“Calm down? Calm down?! Are you fucking kidding me? I’ve just caught you fucking my girlfriend in her kitchen!”
My face heated. There was no way to get around this now. Matthew just walked in on us.
Oh, Gods.
Matthew just walked in on us.
What was I meant to say to him?
“Matthew.” My voice was quiet as I peered out from behind Gray.
When Matt clapped his eyes on me, his fury only seemed to increase. “Gods, Quentin! Are you serious right now? You’ve been fucking him while you were seeing me?”
“No! No. It’s not like that!”
I swung my leg over and pushed myself off the counter, taking a few steps towards him.
“You’re in his shirt!” Matt yelled. “This isn’t the first time!”
I closed my eyes for a second. Why didn’t I get showered and dressed this morning?
“Matt, just listen to me,” I pleaded.
“I don’t want to listen to anything you have to say, Scott! Fuck, I thought you were an absolute gem, but you’re nothing more than a common whore!”
The words barely left his mouth when Gray’s aura sent Matt clean across the room.
“Gray! Stop!” I cried.
“Don’t you dare insult her in front of me,” Gray said, voice shaking with authority.
He started to advance on Matt, and I caught hold of his arm.
“Stop it! Just stop!” I told him.
Gray looked down at me, his own anger clear in his eyes. This was going to make things ten times worse. Matt picked himself up off the floor and I turned to face him.
“I’m so sorry,” I said. “I’m so so sorry.”
“Save your pathetic apology,” Matt spat. “We’ll see what Gareth has to say about this. We’re forbidden from any relations with them. You’re not immune to the rules.”
Gray’s aura moved around me, and I turned on him. “I said stop it!”
Matt stalked out of the house, and I ran after him. I might not have felt for him in a romantic sense, but that didn’t mean I wanted to hurt him.
“Matthew, let’s talk about this.”
He opened the door and stormed towards his car. I went to follow, but Gray’s arms grabbed me around the waist.
“Let me go!” I screamed.
“You’re half naked, Quentin,” he reminded me calmly, slamming the door closed on my escape.
“I need to go after him. I can’t… He can’t tell Gareth. Hunter’s going to find out.”
The panic clawed its way through my body. Gray pulled me into the living room, and I was struggling to breathe.
I planned things. I planned through everything, so when something unexpected happened, I lost my shit.
