I wanted to close the gap. I needed to close the gap.

“You two need to get a room,” Ig said from across the table.

I pulled away from Gray quickly to see Ig smirking at us. Gray threw a napkin at him, and we lapsed into conversation again.

By the time we got back home, I was grateful to step out of my heels. My feet ached with each step I took into the kitchen.

“Thank you for inviting me tonight. I really enjoyed it,” I said to Gray.

The box I’d brought in with me earlier today sat on the kitchen table.

“Shit,” I muttered. “I forgot to take this with me. I got it for you.”

I stood by the table and Gray stood behind me, leaving barely any space.

“What is it?” he asked.

“A present. Kind of. It’s difficult to shop for a God.”

He reached around me, arms encircling my waist, and pulled the lid off the box. His aura pulled out a cake and set it on the table. It was decorated in black and gold marbling to honour him.

“I thought we could all have some, but I forgot to take it,” I said, turning around to face him.

“Thank you,” he replied.

It was too much. The pulling sensation in my chest and the need to feel him against me again was just too much.

My hands went to his face, and Gray looked at me curiously before I stepped up on my toes and kissed him. It took a moment before Gray responded, nipping at my lip before I opened my mouth for him. Our tongues met in a heated dance. It’d been too long since I’d felt this hot, heavy desire.

Gray grabbed my hips, pulling me flush against him, and I felt his erection pressed against my lower stomach. Clumsily, I pushed his jacket off his shoulders and let it drop to the floor.

He moved the kisses away from my lips and along the edge of my jaw slowly while my fingers worked on the buttons of his shirt. Gray reached my neck and sucked at the skin, making me tip my head for him.

“I’ve waited long enough,” Gray said.

“But you were so well-behaved,” I teased breathlessly.

Gray growled at me, “Do you know how fucking hard it is to have you in bed every night and keep my hands to myself?”

My hands slid down his chest until I found the waistband of his trousers, untucking his shirt. Gray ripped the flimsy strands of my dress as he nipped at the crook of my neck. I gasped quietly before the silky fabric pooled around my feet.

“You’re going to leave a mark, Gray,” I warned.

“I fully intend to.”

His hands ran along my bare sides, and I trembled under his touch. I needed him badly.

Gray’s hands moved up to my breasts, thumbing my nipples so that my back arched. My own kept undoing the buttons of his shirt before pushing it off his body. The pile of clothes at our feet was growing.

My mouth found his shoulder, and I kissed and sucked at the skin, but Gray claimed it with his own again.

There was nothing soft or tender or gentle here. It was a raw, primal need for each other that we’d denied for too long.

One of his hands fisted into my hair as he deepened the kiss and the heat pooled between my legs.

I made quick work of the button and zipper on his trousers. Gray rid himself of his shoes and socks as I pushed the trousers past his hips and let them fall. He hooked his thumbs into the waistband of my knickers, and I brushed a hand over his cock, earning a satisfied groan from him.

The kitchen grew dark with his aura as his control wavered, shedding his boxers until we were entirely naked in my kitchen.
