“Though everyone really wants to know if he’ll take after Hunter or Erik,” Archer mused.

“What do you mean?”

“Erik is a real family man. I find it quite sickening, but Hunter — well, monogamy isn’t really his cup of tea.”

That explained what I’d witnessed inside.

“Scott!”

Archer and I walked back around towards the house. Up by the doors, Gray looked furious with Elva beside him.

I took them both in, standing together, adorned in blue, and my stomach dropped. Why hadn’t I seen it before? They looked like a couple that belonged on the front of a magazine and gracing red carpets. They looked perfect, with Gray in his tailored suit emanating power, and Elva beside him, dainty and ethereal in a ballgown.

Archer leaned down and spoke to me, “You might want to make it clear to him he’s not your keeper.”

“Scott! Get here now,” Gray demanded.

Elva placed a hand on his arm, and the jealousy reared its head again.

“Better get back to him before he destroys the place,” Archer muttered, straightening up.

He unlinked his arm from mine and took the glass before it disappeared.

Gray approached us, with Elva trailing behind him. He looked livid.

“Grayson,” Archer greeted him with a smile.

“Archer,” Gray said shortly. “Scott, get inside.”

“Excuse me?” I asked.

“Get. Inside.”

“You don’t tell me what to do.”

“I do when it’s my house.”

“Grayson, calm down,” Elva implored.

“You might want to listen to her,” Archer quipped. “Wouldn’t want to cause a scene.”

“You need to stay away from her,” Gray warned him.

“And why’s that, Grayson?”

Gray’s aura sprung to life, and it was joined by another in deep forest green. Archer didn’t look remotely worried about taking on an elite God.

“GET INSIDE!” Grayson roared. He looked at me with pure fury in his eyes, and it sparked up my irrational anger at the whole situation.

“Fine!” I yelled back. “Archer.” The minor God looked at me, not dropping his aura. “Come and dance with me. I don’t know many people here.”

“Scott,” Gray warned, but I didn’t want to listen.

Archer dropped his aura, and the air cleared of green before he offered his arm again. “What kind of gentleman would I be if I declined such a request?”

I took his arm and looked at the pure disbelief that took over Gray’s face as we walked past him. He raised an arm, but Elva grabbed it before he could do any damage. Good. She could deal with his moody, irrational ass for the night. I just wanted to enjoy myself, considering this was a celebration.

Archer led me through into Gray’s throne room, where the music flowed. I scanned the room and saw a few familiar faces before I was pulled against Archer’s body, his hands on my waist.
