There had to be one, right?I didn’t get this lucky. I’d wanted this for so long, and I’d thought I’d missed my opportunity, had convinced myself I’d have to wait even longer.

No way would I turn down my chance with Eve, but this wasn’t how I’d planned for this to go down. Still, beggars can’t be choosers. I had stood on this side of her hotel room door—considering what all of this meant—way too long already.

I slid my gaze from her extended hand to her face. Her perfect lips were full, and her eyes were wide and expectant. Her mascara might have been smudged, and her hair was a tangled mess, but she was the most gorgeous creature I’d ever laid my eyes on.

I was wrong. She wasn’t a witch. She was a siren, luring me in with her siren song. And I was an unwitting sailor, happy to follow her to the depths, to drown in her and never come up for air again.

My mouth split into a grin, breaking the spell. “You sure about this, princess?”

“Just get the fuck in here, O’Connor.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I complied, following her into the hotel room.

She dropped her sky-high heels onto the marble tile and walked toward the bathroom, taking her earrings out and laying them on the vanity. “I have a few ground rules.”

Aha! There was a catch!

“Ground rules for what, exactly?” I asked, rocking back on my heels a little.

“Ground rules for fucking me.”

I coughed, slightly taken aback by her bluntness.

“I’m listening.” I slipped my hands into my pockets, sliding my fingers along the smooth surface of the keycard to my room.

“Rule number one: you wear a condom. I don’t care if you’ve tested negative recently. I don’t care that I have an IUD in. No glove, no love.”

I nodded in agreement. That was no issue. I always carried a condom in my wallet, just in case.

“Rule number two: this is one and done.”

I cleared my throat, cutting in. “Why is this one and done exactly? Just out of curiosity.”

“Because we’re just getting rid ofthis sexual tension, so it won’t be so weird between us. I don’t need a relationship or fake promises. I don’t expect anything from you that you don’t want to give me. Are we clear?”

I was a little confused, but my head still bobbed in agreement. I had always kept things casual in the past. I’d never felt I needed more.

I wasn’t sure if one night with Eve would be enough, but since we hadn’t even had sex yet, I reserved that argument for a later date. Maybe after I’d proved my worth in the sack.

“Just some fun,” I said, the corner of my tugging up into a little smirk. “Anything else?”

“One more. Rule number three: I come first,” she demanded, her eyes boring into mine. She was begging me to make her come with that pleading gaze.

“Ladies first. Always a rule I live by,” I said as I stalked toward her. Her eyes widened and her full lips parted like she wanted to say something else, but I closed the gap between us, capturing her mouth with mine.

She had no idea what she did to me with her smart mouth and her perfect curves. It didn’t matter that she gave me shit. In fact, maybe that made her even more desirable. This woman took my shit and threw it right back. She had no issue handing me my own ass on a fucking platter.

Why was that a turn on?I didn’t know, but damn, I loved that about her.

It was like our own unique form of foreplay. Six months’ worth of petty arguments, sarcastic comments, and pent-up sexual tension.

Fuck.

This should be fun.

I smiled against her mouth at the thought, and her body relaxed, melting into me. I could stand here kissing her perfect mouth all night. She made me feel like I was in high school again. Made me want to take my time and enjoy every inch of her, even though I was still hard as stone from watching her dive into that pool.

I gripped her hips and pulled her to me so she could feel how hard I was for her already. She elicited a heady moan, which I greedily swallowed. I moved my fingers from her waist to my tie and loosened it.
