I continue farther into the shadows, not sure where to go or what to do.
Then I feel someone come up behind me. I turn and see Kit, Jax, and Casey following. Fallow is there as well.
“Break them all down,” I growl. “Find him.”
They go to work without hesitation, kicking in doors, surprising the people within. I question them all, my fingers digging into necks, crushing windpipes, but no one gives me anything. No one knows any useful information.
And none of the people inside is Bane.
My hands itch, my eyes hazy from the fury building inside me.
I am going to murder them all.
My fingers flex at my sides, cracking as I open and shut them.
I’m going to rip them apart.
There will be nothing clean about this. Nothing sterile.
Casey kicks in the last door on the left, the only one we haven’t searched, and that’s when I see it.
Blood.
And as I move closer, my eye twitches, my hands landing on the chair situated in the middle of the room. I fling it against the wall with a roar.
Because on the ground lies the tracking device I put in Bane.

BANE
Iwake up groggy, the entire room one large blur. My eyes blink, my mouth dry as I try to swallow.
Nothing is right.
Everything is wrong.
My body hurts, my shoulder especially. And my face.
Everything, really.
Damnation, this is not how I planned my weekend to go.
“You awake?” a voice says as my eyelids flutter open.
I stare at Henry, who is just across from me, one leg crossed over the other, a boba tea drink in his hand.
“Hey, babe. Missed you.”
I blink at him, deciding which part of him I will take first.
Probably his scalp. He was always so obsessed with his hair.
“You look like shit, though,” he says as he takes a sip of his drink and sets it down on the ground, pushing himself up. “Sad because you were such a hot piece of ass.”
I don’t say anything, just stare at him.
“Aw, don’t wanna talk. Bummer. You always had too much to say. Wouldn’t stop talking, even with my dick in your mouth.”
