She whirls around from the table she just laid her knife down on, her black hair fanning out behind her before stalking right into Ryder’s space. “I can’t wait for you to eat those fucking words. Until then. Back. The. Fuck. Off.” She shoves him in the chest, and it catches him off guard making him smack the door behind him.
He jumps back up, towering over her. In her flat boots, he’s almost a foot taller than her but she never even flinches, mostly because he would never lay a hand on her in anger. He would be dead before the hit even landed, anyway.
“Is this how it’s going to be from now on?” he seethes.
“Like what?” she asks, frustrated.
“We are a team!” he bellows. “You made this decision on your own!”
“What would you have me do?” she yells back. My head is flipping back and forth between them like I’m watchinga ping-pong match.I wish I had some popcorn. They’ve always had arguments, but it’s gotten worse she started dating Leo.“Kill him and start a fuckingwar!”
“If you weren’t fucking him, he would have been dead already!”
She takes a step back like he punched her in the gut. I inwardly wince at the look she’s giving him. “You’re a fucking asshole, Ryder.” She pushes by him, leaving the basement.
“That was an asshole move,” I say, agreeing with her.
“Fuck!” he yells. “I know,” he says softer.
“Go kiss and make up. I’ll clean this up.”
He jerks a nod and exits the basement.
When those two finally hook up, they will tear this house down.I chuckle to myself, cutting the ties holding Chad to the chair, letting him hit the floor, and his neck snaps almost clean off.
“It’s me and you, Chad-O,” I tell his corpse before setting out to dismember him to dispose of his body.
What a fucking life.
Chapter 6
Alessa
What a fucking egotistical asshole.
I’m still fuming when I make it to my room. I scrub the blood from my hands and strip my jeans off. Killing Chadwick didn’t even curb my anger. Who in the fuck does he think he is insinuating I’m being soft on Leo? I just don’t want to start a fucking war.
Someone knocks at the door, and I jerk it open in nothing but my shirt and red panties.Oops.
Ryder’s eyes snap down and snap back to my face. “Can we talk?” he asks with that muscle ticking in his jaw.
I motion for him to enter, shutting the door behind him. It’s not the first time we’ve had a yelling match, and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
He starts pacing, and I lean against the door, waiting for him to talk.
“I was out of line downstairs.”
“You don’t say,” I remark sarcastically.
He whirls around. “Goddamnit, Les. I’m trying to apologize.”
“If you weren’t an asshole, you would have nothing to apologize for.”
He runs both hands through his hair. “I’m fucking sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.”
“No, you shouldn’t have,” I remark.
“What is it about him?” Ryder asks, and I narrow my eyes. “I’m just trying to understand.”
