I wasn’t sure Emme truly understood the significance of that statement. Finley choosing her over hockey… It was all the evidence any of us needed that he was changing.

For the better.

Kellan sidled in beside me, throwing his arm over my shoulders. His eyes glowed as he watched them. If this were an animation, he’d have an exaggerated heart pounding from his chest.

“This could be one of the best days of my life, outside of when I first met Emme, and the first time we kissed, and the bonding, and the first time she touched me?—”

He was cut off by my hand slamming against the back of his head, though I couldn’t argue those points. Emme pulled away from Finley to shoot us a cheeky smile. “I’m so happy that I failed at my task to avoid packs and this life. I honestly couldn’t live without you assholes. I really couldn’t.”

“Same!” Kellan shouted, and he was racing for her again, hauling her up into his arms. “And now we need to celebrate. You and me, naked for the next twelve to twelve hundred hours. What do you say, Shortcake?”

Emme wrapped her legs around him and clung on tight. “Sounds like a plan.” Her gaze met mine. “You in, Hurricane?”

She had no idea how far in I was. It was the sort ofinwhere not even death would part us. “All the fucking way, baby girl. All the way.”

Kellan turned and headed for the stairs, and I paused to check on Finley. “You going to be okay, brother?” I asked him.

He nodded, watching them as they raced up the stairs. “Yeah, I’ll just shower and change before heading to Kenz’s place. Emme and I aren’t there yet, and that’s okay. I’m learning patience, and I’m thrilled that she’s let me in as much as she already has.”

I slapped a hand on his shoulder. “We’re all proud of you. Just know that.”

Finley reached up and wrapped his hand over the top of mine, his head lowering, but I caught the shine in his eyes. “Thanks, Hunt.” He shook his head and then cleared his throat.“Now go and love on our omega. I want her to be happy… above all else.”

With that, he shuffled off to his room, and I knew he’d be okay. Eventually.

My pack was strengthening in ways that had my alpha energy settled and satisfied.

Now all we needed was to eliminate our enemies.

CHAPTER 52

EMME

Kellan raced up the stairs with me clinging to him like a damn monkey, and I already knew it’d be a waste of breath to insist on walking. Through our bond, his love and need bled into my desperation, leaving me panting and on the edge of losing my damn sanity.

After his greeting downstairs, not only were my panties absolutely ruined, but my sweatpants might be as well.

“I’m not sure I can wait,” Kellan groaned, all but sprinting along the landing and busting into his bedroom. Florence had already been in today and freshened everything up, leaving it cool and scentless. I hated the evidence that he’d been gone for days, but he was here now and I would enjoy every second of our reunion.

We didn’t make it to the bed. He brought me down on the soft, thick rug, his mouth landing on mine, and I groaned into the kiss. Kellan wrenched back, panting against me. “Goddess of the shifters, pretty mate. My dick is literally trying to bust through my suit pants.”

“Well, you better get naked, then,” I suggested between laughs. “We don’t want you to have to perform with an injury.”

Kellan groaned again and kissed me in long, drugging kisses that rendered me mindless and frantic with desire. It took me many seconds to realize he was trying to wiggle out of his clothes without separating our bodies.

“I don’t care what Coach says, I’m not leaving you again,” he vowed, his pants almost to his ankles as he tried to kick off dress shoes. When they didn’t come off easily, he focused on tearing his shirt open, the buttons flying around the room. “When you were reading and got to the spicy scenes, Finley and I had to take turns jerking off—” He narrowed his eyes on me as a slow smirk tilted his lips. “Separately, Shortcake. Get your mind out of the gutter.”

That sent me into fits of laughter, my body heating at the mental image he’d painted. My alphas loved each other like brothers, which was okay with me. I wasn’t mad about being the sole focus of their sexual needs.

“Well, tonight you won’t have to take care of anything yourself,” I whispered, leaning up to kiss him as Hunter entered the room.

Our entitled alpha paused, taking in what was no doubt an interesting scene. Kellan, pants around his ankles and shoes on, crowding me into the rug while he kissed every part of my skin he could reach. I whined when Kellan was lifted full bodily from me, an unexpected growl tearing from his throat as he turned on Hunter.

The entitled alpha let loose an even more impressive growl, laced with dominance, which halted Kellan in his tracks. “You’re half fucking rabid,” Hunter snapped at him. “Pull yourself together. I know you won’t hurt Emme, but you’re also not getting anywhere fast in this current state.”

Kellan sucked in a ragged breath and lifted his head to rumble out a howl. “I was actually getting therevery fast,” he muttered

Hunter shook his head. “Don’t worry, annoying pup. We have all night to love on our omega. And I think it’s time tolove her together.”
