During my hospital stay, I ended up getting tested for HIV and just as my luck would have it, my test came back positive. Icouldn’t believe it. One little night of fucking up resulted in me testing positive for HIV; something that I would have to have for the rest of my life.

I made a promise to myself that as soon as I healed up, I was going to pay Shane a special visit and fuck his ass up for giving me that shit and not saying anything to me about having it. I felt like he had set me up. There was no way that I was going to believe that he hadn’t. The fact that he told Ava that he was positive before telling me was something I couldn’t understand. I mean, he and I were fucking around, and he had no problems keeping that shit a secret as long as it was convenient for him. I planned to find that out and sooner rather than later because I was headed to his house right now.

Even though I was still recovering from my hip surgery, I was able to get around just fine with a cane. After last night, I realized that I may have lost Ava for good and it was all Shane’s fault. Not only did she move in with some bum ass fool, but the ignorant son-of-a-bitch had the nerve to try to push me down with my cane. What kind of person does that?! So, today, I was making my way to Shane’s because I had questions that only he could answer. It was because of him that I had lost it all; including Tate. Tate and I hadn’t spoken since he stormed out of my hospital room. Once I was done getting Shane together, my next project was to work on me and Tate’s friendship, well what was left of it.

Pulling up to Shane’s house, I parked my truck, got out, then headed to his front door. I didn’t even bother to call him to let him know that I was on my way. Hell, why should I be considerate of him when he wasn’t considerate enough to tell me he was walking around dirty? He didn’t consider my marriage when he went and ran off at the mouth to my wife about me being over at his house. That caused me to get caught up, so damn being considerate to him and his feelings. Knocking on hisfront door and ringing the doorbell at the same time, I laid on his bell until he opened the door.

“Oh, God!” Shane groaned when he opened his door. “To what do I owe the pleasure of this unexpected meeting?” He sighed as if unbothered before he continued. “Why you ringing my doorbell and knocking on my shit like you the police? What the hell is your problem?”

“My goodness! You look a mess!” I exclaimed, noticing how terrible Shane looked. His cheeks were sunken, his color was so pale he looked like a ghost. He just looked awful! “Move so I can come in. We need to talk!” I snapped.

“You don’t look so hot yourself,” Shane mumbled, then stumbled to the side as I barged through his doorway. “What happened to calling first?”

“Call first my ass, nigga! I should beat your ass for what you did!” I exclaimed. Looking around his front room, I noticed that his house was a complete and utter mess, which was unlike Shane. “My goodness, when was the last time you cleaned up this place, or showered? Shit, it smells horrible in here, and I can’t tell if it’s you or all this trash you have laying around.”

“Excuse you!” Shane shrieked.

“Nah, excuse you! What in the hell possessed you to tell my wife about you having HIV before telling me?” I fussed as he closed his front door. Standing there with his eyes bucked I continued to go off. “All that bullshit you was sayin’ about not wanting Ava to find out about us just for you to turn around and tell her before I had the chance to was whack as hell on your part!” I continued to fuss. “Then to tell her that I was at your house so that she could catch me over here was a punk ass, pussy move on your part! What the FUCK were you thinking? What the hell did I ever do to you for you to throw me under the bus like that?”

“First of all?—”

“Aht!” I spat as I held my cane up to his face. “Watch that slick ass mouth, nicca!” I snapped, waving my cane in his face. “If you know what I know, you betta come correct and watch how the fuck you talk to me… real nigga shit! Because of you I have lost EVERY GOTDAMN THING!”

“Now just wait one damn minute!” Shane yelled. “And watch where you pointing that fucking cane!”

“You betta hope I don’t point the shit up your ass!”

“You need to calm the hell down! I didn’t tell Ava SHIT about you being over here. I have no fucking idea how she knew that shit, and she never told me how she found out. Hell, I was just as confused and shocked when she popped up over here as you were.”

“You really expect me to believe that bullshit?” I asked.

“You can believe whatever the fuck you want.” Shane said then started coughing nonstop.

“Damn, the fuck?” I sneered as I backed up out of his space.

“I have a cold, and my allergies are giving me the blues.” Looking at Shane with the side eye, I couldn’t help but to think his illness played a part in the downfall of his health and image. “I didn’t tell Ava you were over here, Justin. I swear on everything that I love that I didn’t. You can believe me or not. I truthfully don’t care because just like you, I have lost it all as well. Ava was the only best friend in the world that I had, and now she won’t even talk to me. I’m dying of this illness and going through it all alone, so fuck what you talkin’ about!”

“Fuck what I’m talkin’ about!” I started to jump in his face but thought twice about it. “Boy, you one lucky ass sucka! If the circumstances were different, I’d whoop your ass! Because of you, I tested positive and possibly gave it to others.”

“First of all, I didn’t know that I had it. And two, if you gave it to someone else that shit is on you.”

“NO, it’s NOT! It’s all on your nasty ass!”

“Whatever, Justin! You need to leave. You have some nerve.”

“I have some nerve!” I bellowed, stepping into Shane’s personal space.

“I’m not up for all this extra-ness, so you need to leave right now.”

“I ain’t goin’ no damn where until you finish answering my questions,” I fumed as Shane rolled his eyes and put his hands on his hips. “Why didn’t you tell me about the HIV test first? What in the hell possessed you to tell Ava that shit before telling me?”

“Ava and I found out at the same time. Like, she found out on a fluke,” Shane began. I raised my cane about to hit him, and he rolled his eyes again. “If you hit me with that cane, sick or not, I’ma beat your ass, Justin! I ain’t the one with fucked up hips. Think before you react!”

“What do you mean it was a fluke? How did she find out the same time you did when y’all weren’t even talking?”

“I was feeling like shit and had no one to call, so I took the chance and called Ava to see if she could take me to the doctor. I honestly didn’t think that she was going to answer nor take me because she hadn’t talked to me since she caught you at my house that day. When she agreed, I never in a million years thought that they were going to tell me that I’m HIV positive. I thought that I had some rare form of cancer because the shit runs in my family. I had no fucking clue that I had the shit, and Ava unfortunately, was sitting right there the whole time.”

“Mmm…hmmm! I don’t know what to believe when it comes to you anymore.”
