“I have about six more clients to cut before I can call it a day.”
“Oh, well, if you’re busy, just call me back later.”
“Okay, boo, I’ll check in with you later. Love you, girl.”
“Love you, too,” I said.
Hanging up from Shane as I sat in some light traffic, I turned the radio on. Lucky me, my favorite singer Toni Braxton’s song,I Love Me Some Him, was on the radio. Singing along with the song, I headed home in a great mood.
Making it to the house, Bully was sitting at the door waiting on me. Dropping my bags at the door, I picked him up and started playing with him. Then I let him out the patio door so that he could go potty in the backyard while I looked for something to fix for dinner. I had forgotten to take some meat out before I left this morning, so I took out some salmon from the freezer and sat it in the sink with some cold water so that it could thaw.
Looking in the fridge, I took out two bags of spinach and kale mix then I grabbed some red skin potatoes and rinsed them off. Doing a quick peel, I cut the potatoes in half, then placed them in a pot of hot water to boil them so that I could make mashed potatoes. While the potatoes were going and the fish was thawing, I let Bully back in then headed upstairs to change out of my work clothes. Making it back down to the kitchen, the salmon was just about thawed, so I started on the mashed potatoes. Once they were done, the salmon was thawed out, so I began preparing salmon foil packets with Cajun butter. After putting them in the oven I sautéed the spinach and kale. Just as I was finishing up dinner, Justin walked in from work.
“Hey babe, you got it smelling good as fuck up in here.”
“Thanks baby, how was work?” I asked as he kissed then slapped me on the butt.
“Work was work. How was your day?”
“It was super busy. I’m just glad it’s Friday, the weekend is here, and we get to spend it together.”
“I’m headed upstairs to shower and change right quick, if that’s cool.”
“Perfect, by the time you’re done, dinner will be ready.”
Thirty minutes or so later, Justin was back in the kitchen smelling and looking amazing. I had just finished making our plates and fixing us some sweet tea. Sitting down at the table, we made small talk about our day as we ate.
“That was good, babe.”
“Thanks, J, I got started on dinner as soon as I walked in. I wanted to make sure you had a hot meal to eat when you got in from work.”
“You’re such an amazing wife.”
“I try. Let me clean these dishes so that I can take a shower. Maybe we can find a movie to watch when I’m done.”
“I’ll clean the kitchen, baby. You go take your shower.”
“Thanks, babe.”
Skipping up the stairs feeling amazing, I couldn’t have been happier. Making it to the bedroom, I went to my dresser to find something to put on after I showered. Deciding on a cute lil’ chemise that I had purchased online from Adore Me, I went into the bathroom to take a shower. Once done, I got dressed, sprayed on some Bath and Body Works peachy peach, then headed back downstairs to get my movie night on with Justin.
When I got to the family room, Justin was sitting on the couch with Bully lying at his feet while he scrolled through the TV guide.
“I don’t know why I pay so much to have cable when there ain’t never shit on TV,” he fussed.
“Let’s check Netflix. There’s always something good to watch on there,” I suggested.
We ended up choosing,How to Fix a Drug Scandal. Snuggling up close to my boo, he wrapped his arm around me, and I laid my head on his chest. I loved it when Justin and I spent quality time together. Ten minutes into the show, we were making out, rubbing and touching all over one another.
“Let’s pause the movie and go up to the bedroom for a couple of minutes,” Justin purred.
Giggling I responded, “Last one to the room a rotten egg.”
Bolting from the couch, I darted up the stairs as fast as I could making it to the bedroom before him. We were laughing and having such a good time. All I could think was thank God we both wanted to fight for our marriage. I couldn’t picture how things would’ve been had we gone our separate ways after he cheated.
I couldn’t lie though, I frequently thought about what caused him to cheat and if he ever felt the urge to do it again. From what I could tell, he hadn’t, but it was always in the back of my mind. It took me some time to get the visual of Justin having sex with another woman out of my mind, but I knew that I had to move on from it. He apologized, things were great, so there was no need to keep dwelling over it.
“You cheated!” He laughed as he lifted my chemise up, taking it off.
