“To be honest, I was hoping to take a nap.” I sighed as I watched her browse through the new releases on Netflix.
“Suit yourself then. Since you don’t want to watch anything, I’ma check outGood Girlsto see what all the hype is about.”
“Ava, sweetie pie, would it be asking too much for you to watch TV in the family room? I’m tired as hell and all I want is to be able to get some rest,” I huffed as nicely as possible.
“I swear you been actin’ real distant lately, but it’s whatever, J!” Ava spat, turning the TV off, then throwing the remote down hitting me on my arm with it.
I wanted to say something because I honestly didn’t have a clue what she was bitching about but decided to just keep quiet instead. She was huffin’ and puffin’ looking silly as hell as she snatched up her cellphone then headed out of our bedroom. On her way out, she made sure to slam our bedroom door extra hard, and that was when she had me about to snap out on her ass.
Snatching my cellphone off the bedside table next to me, I decided to text Tate to see if he was home. I needed to get out of the house and away from Ava before I wound up saying or doing something I would regret later.
Me: wyd?
Tate: getting ready for a date.
When Tate replied back that was when I remembered walking in on Ava talking about Tate to Shane and Dawn.
Me: with Ava’s sister?
Tate: Yeah, man.
Me: You playin’ with fire, man. When did y’all start kickin’ it?
Tate: your wedding, bro. Playing with fire how?
Me: she’s my wife’s sister bro. That’s weird as fuck. You know how you are when it comes to women. Are you sure you should go there with her of all people? The last thing I need is to have any static from my wife about you and her sister.
Tate: Man it’s not even that serious. We’re just hanging out and having fun. I don’t see how it can cause any static with you and yours. Truthfully, it has nothing to do with ya’ll.
Me: Alright then bro. You know I could care less about who you kick it with, but that’s my wife’s sister… just do right by her please ‘cause you know how Ava can get.
Tate: Got it… no worries.
I really didn’t care if Tate and Dawn kicked it. I just didn’t want things to go left with them and Dawn to bring the shit to Ava then Ava would come to me with it. Tate was a cool dude and all, but he couldn’t maintain a relationship with a woman to save his soul. I knew the real reason behind why, which made it even more unsettling for me that he chose Dawn of all people to kick it with. Seeing that Tate was not available, I decided to hit up my option B.
Me: Hey, you busy?
S.B: How did I know I would be hearing from you today?
Me: How so?
S.B: The look and the vibe you gave off this morning to start.
Me: Are you home? I need to get out of the house.
S.B: Yeah I’m home.
Me: Bet. I’m on my way.
Getting out of bed and throwing on a Nike jogging suit with a pair of Air Force Ones, I grabbed my cellphone, wallet, and keys then headed to the garage.
“Where you goin’, J?”
“Out!” I grunted as I walked through the kitchen heading to the garage door.
I noticed that Ava had got up from the couch and was heading toward me.
“Out where? And don’t say Tate’s house because he and Dawn are about to go out.”
