Asao nodded and gave his attention to the woman next to his girl. Their arms were still linked. Samari was presenting a united front. He extended a closed fist to Fyre which she met with her own.
“You’re nice.”
“I know.” She smiled arrogantly, which made him chuckle. “And coming from you that’s the ultimate compliment, so thank you.”
“You trying to do more than this or you comfortable where you are?” he asked, gauging where her head was.
“If you’re offering, I want more. I’ve heard about Track Killaz. Dom is nice with his beats, you have the respect of the city, and I’m trying to be a part of something like that.”
“Aight, let’s talk then. You have a team?”
She frowned and he clarified, “Management?”
There was always someone who noticed potential and was either trying to make sure the possessor of that potential won or the alternative was them trying to eat off that potential. They pushed to get a check and that could be a problem. He wanted to know what obstacles he would be faced with in the pursuit of getting Fyre to the next level.
“No, I don’t fuck with anybody like that. It’s just me.” She frowned and cut her eyes at B-Syde, hoping he wouldn’t have put her in the center of a foul situation. Asao’s reputation was solid but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t fuck her over.
“My boy isn’t on any bullshit, and even if he was, I’m right there with you. My name is attached to the label.”
Fyre frowned, glancing at Asao who nodded confirmation. “We’re keeping it in the family.”
She relaxed. “Let’s talk then. Mari has my number.”
Asao’s narrowed gaze moved from Fyre’s face to Samari. She unlinked her arm from Fyre’s and closed the space between them, locking her arms around Asao’s waist and angling her head back. “I told you… if she’s on the label, she’s on my album. I mentioned a feature and she’s down.”
He bent his neck, moving his face closer to hers. “You making business decisions?”
“Is that a problem?”
“Not at all, but you have to have business to make decisions about. You said album. Is that what we’re producing?”
The decision still hadn’t been made as to how she would reintroduce herself to the world.
She grinned and rolled her eyes before she kissed him. “We can discuss that later.”
She pulled away and turned to Fyre. “I’m going to text you so we can record something.”
“Sounds good.” Fyre nodded, smiling at Samari. Their energy together worked and she was down to see what they could create.
“You know about the music festival?” Asao asked, pulling Samari into his space.
“I’ve heard about it,” Fyre said, hopeful to get an invitation to be on stage.
“We still have spots to fill. You want your name on the list?”
“Hell yeah.” She nodded with a smile.
“Aight, I got you.” The promise was set. Samari and Fyre hugged it out before B-Syde dapped his boy and walked Fyre to her car so he could head back inside. When Asao and Samari were inside his Jeep, he dropped a hand on her thigh and navigated out of the parking lot.
She turned to him, smiling. “You like my layers?”
His eyes left the road for a brief moment. “I like your everything. Have I not been clear on that?”
“Mm, maybe.”
“We don’t do maybes so I’m about to take you home and provide clarity.”
“That sounds promising.”
