“And so did Ciara. The guys were in balaclavas, but I recognized Finn’s tattoo.”
“The Celtic knot on his hand…”
“The very one. I’d know that tattoo anywhere.”
“You would. You were with him when he got it.”
“I thought the kid was going to burst into tears the entire time.”
Kieran scoffs. “What a pussy.”
Cormac’s eyes find mine. “So, what now?”
Kieran sets four glasses on the bar along with a fresh bottle of Macallan whiskey. “We need to talk to Lorcan. Finn is his step-kid after all.”
“Don’t fucking remind me.” I barely wait for Kieran to finish pouring the drinks before snatching up a glass and downing it in one before reaching for another.
Kieran scoffs. “Seriously?”
“Have you got a fucking liquor license you’re trying to hold onto or something? Fill the damn glasses up.”
Cormac speaks up after I’ve downed my third drink. “So, do we think Lorcan is involved?”
The room falls silent.
Kieran narrows his eyes at our brother. “Trust you to be the one to question family loyalty.”
I glare at the two of them. “I’m not having this fucking conversation every time we get together.”
Kieran’s eyes stay fixed on Cormac. “There’s an easy solution to that, brother.”
Cormac looks at me. “If we tell Lorcan and he decides to go looking for Finn, he’ll know we’re onto him, and we can’t risk that.”
Brennan takes a sip of his glass. “So, we need to keep Lorcan in the dark? That’s easy enough. He’s barely been around ever since Dad died.”
Cormac nods. “All the more reason to look into Finn.”
“Exactly. We need to find Finn first and figure out if he’s flying solo or if there’s a bigger snake in the grass.”
“Finn’s smart. No doubt he’s covered his tracks well, and we’ll need to tread carefully, especially considering his link to Lorcan.”
Kieran rolls his eyes at Cormac. “Who gives a fuck about his link to Lorcan! He’s already proved himself to be a traitorous bastard, and I don’t fancy waiting around to see if he decides to put a bullet in one of us next.”
I shoot Kieran a look. “Lorcan stays out of this until the very last second. We don’t want him possibly tipping Finn off.”
I glance at Brennan. “You and I will dig through any of the guys Finn used to be close with to see if there’s been any communication from within.”
Brennan nods.
I look at Kieran. “I want you and Cormac keeping eyes on operations.”
Kieran snorts. “Nice of you to finally include me in the intel game.”
Brennan smirks. “Yeah, Kieran, you’re not just muscle anymore.”
“Muscle with a brain, don’t forget.” The slight smile on his mouth betrays him. “So, we find Finn, and we break him.”
“Just enough to see if there’s someone bigger pulling the strings.” I swirl my drink around my glass. “If it’s just him, then he’s all yours.”
