Placing a kiss on her forehead, I walk out of my room with a smile. The moment I step out the room I bump into a small figure.
“Niccolo, my apologies. I was coming to see if my daughter was up.”
Since she’s been staying here, I only see her sporadically. Whenever we've run into each other, she’s always been pleasant enough.
“She’s not up yet.”
She looks at the door and then back at me, running a hand down the front of her dress.
“Oh, okay.”
I step around her, heading away from my bedroom.
“I suppose after her morning activities she will be sleeping for a while.”
There is a playfulness in her tone. Turning to face her, I take in her grin.
“I suppose so.”
Her smile rises as she steps forward. She places a hand on my arm.
“I’m glad my daughter found you. She’s a lucky girl.”
Dipping my chin to my chest briefly, I respond. “Not as lucky as me. If you will excuse me.”
I turn my back to her and come up short when I spot Ms. Rose with my son. Noah has his head on her shoulder enjoying one of his morning yogurt pouches. He gives me a grin showcasing his four teeth.
Rose looks me over before her gaze lands on Evelyn. Her face undergoes a very subtle shift. To a normal eye, you wouldn’t be able to tell, but to someone who has learned to pay attention to the minor details, I can tell the change. Rose isn’t pleased.
I head over to her, taking my son out of her hands.
“Well, if you will excuse me,” Evelyn announces as she scurries away.
Rose watches her the entire time. I plant kisses on my son’s cheek. He smells of baby powder and cocoa butter.
“I don’t trust that woman.” Rose turns back to me with a glare.
I chuckle. “You don’t trust anyone.” Hell, it was part of her job for years.
She shrugs. “I trust my gut. And you should too.” She gives me a pointed look. I wasn’t worried about Evelyn Parks. As longas she didn’t disturb my wife, she was safe with me. The moment she did anything to upset Tiffany, her ass was going to be on the street.
“Give me my chunky man.” Rose takes Noah out of my arms. My son loved me and his mom, but we all took a backseat to his nanny.
“We’re going to get some breakfast,” she coos to him, tickling his belly. “That way your mommy can sleep in. Especially since your daddy tired her out.” She gives me a pointed look after that last sentence.
I toss my head back and laugh. My baby put on a show. But in Tiffany’s defense, I truly tried to fuck her into a coma.
After the encounter with Rose, I was out shortly after. Mason wanted to meet us at Salv’s apartment.
Mason and I both lived on the outskirts of town on private property. We preferred the quiet and privacy of living away from the city. Kaz and Salv were the opposite. They thrived off the pace of the city. It made sense since both spent a lot of time in the nightlife. Especially since Salv owned multiple clubs.
Roc stops the SUV in front of Salv’s apartment building. He owned the entire building, yet he only occupied the top floor.
I climb out the back when Ghost opens the door for me. His head is on a swivel, like always.
“Relax, Ghost. Today is a wonderful day.” I take a deep breath, enjoying the smell of the chilly winter air.
“You good, Boss?” Ghost asks with a cocked brow.
