“Wait. Wait. Wait.” He holds his hands out as if he’s trying to keep me at bay. “My cousin. He’s an accountant, a real suit and tie kind of guy. He came to me and said that one of his clients needed someone that’s connected with criminals, someone that doesn’t mind breaking the law.”
“And that was you clowns?” Meech asks.
I one hundred percent had the same thought.
“I…uh…I got busted once for buying weed.”
I take a deep breath, fighting the urge to roll my fucking eyes. This was as close to a criminal as they could find? A fucking kid with a simple possession of marijuana.
“So you took the job?”
“Yes.” He starts crying again. “All we had to do was make the drop off to a few buyers. Some drug dealers, nothing major. Then we got a call that said we needed to make this drop.”
“Who called you?”
“My cousin, he handles all the business for us. After every drop, we get a phone call to make sure it went well.”
“A call from who?”
“The supplier. The one that handles the guns.”
In perfect timing, his phone rang. I look down at his pocket and then back to him. He knows exactly what I want without having to say a word.
He pulls the phone out of his pocket and hands it to me. The caller is unknown, but that’s not an issue. I run my finger over the screen, answering the call. I place it on speaker before holding it close to phony Don’s mouth.
“He…hello?” the sham Don says into the phone.
“Is it done?” the voice on the phone asks, and I immediately know who is behind this shit.
I nod my head.
“Yes.”
“Good, I’ll pick up the money tomorrow. Same time. Same location.”
The line goes dead. Pretender Don sighs in relief. I stand up straight and stuff the phone in my pocket. In case we needed to get access to that caller again.
“Can we go now?” one of the charlatan Don’s guys call out.
I grin down at poser Don. “Yes.” He sighs with relief. “But not until after I take care of this shit.”
My guys move from out of the shadows to collect the fake mafia gang. Salv and Kaz come up to me. Rome, Axel, and Meech follow closely.
“You know that voice?” Salv asks.
“Yeah,” I damn near growl. “I know the fucking voice.”
chapter Thirty-two
It’s Done
Nico
There are only a handful of things in this world that excite me. A new business venture, making money, hearing my son’s laughter, and my wife’s pussy are the leading causes. However, revenge is a very close second.
Right now, my skin is buzzing with excitement. Early this morning I made an important phone call. I’ve spent a huge part of my day in negotiations. All for this very moment right here.
I’m sitting in one of the private dining rooms of one of Salv’s restaurants. The place is closed today for inventory and cleaning.
