“Quiet, it’s an unknown number. Hello?” Jamieson’s voice sounded on the phone.
Instantly, tears filled my eyes.
“J, baby,” is all I could get out before I started crying.
“Oh thank God. Nasiah, baby, are you okay? We’ve been worried sick.”
There was a lot of commotion in the background of his phone.
“Nasiah, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.” My mother’s voice yells in the background.
I didn’t want to hear from or listen to my mother right now. I still slightly faulted her for all this.
“I’m fine right now, J.”
I could hear a sigh of relief in his voice. It felt good to know that he was worried about me.
“Did he…..touch you? Did that monster hurt you?”
I wanted to vomit at the way my body came to life thinking about Raziel touching me. My nipples hardened and pressed against the fabric of my thin tank top. If him being a demonwasn’t bad enough, the way he made my body feel was more than enough reason to get the hell away from him.
“No, he hasn’t touched me.”
Once again, J sighs in relief.
“Tell me where you are. I’m coming to get you.”
“Jamieson, don’t be stupid.” This time it was my sister’s voice I heard in the background. “That thing will kill you.” She had a good point, but I didn’t want to hear that.
“I don’t care,” my man shouts. “This is my wife. Tell me where you are, baby.”
Before I could open my mouth to ask the guard where I was, a deep voice spoke from behind me.
“Tell him.”
I spin around and come face to face with Raziel. His black T-shirt was snug over his muscles and tucked into his dark blue dress slacks that were molded against his thick thighs. His back was against the door of the office, one knee bent with his foot planted against the door, the coat to match his dress pants hung from his fingers as his arms crossed down in front of him. That black smoke was rolling off him, and his eyes were pitch black. He looked delicious and deadly all at the same time.
“Is that him?” Jamieson asks on the phone. I nod my head without speaking as if J can see me. The entire time my eyes are on Raziel.
“You son of a bitch,” Jamieson yells so loud I’m sure Raziel can hear him. “Let my fucking wife go.”
Without taking his eyes off me, Raziel drops his bent leg and pushes away from the door. He tosses his coat onto the futon in the corner.
“It’s been a minute since I’ve killed a human, Nasiah,” he says the words so calmly and with a smile as he makes his way over to me. I’m still sitting in my seat, the phone to my ear, unableto move a muscle. He stops right behind my chair. Placing his finger under my chin, he stares into my eyes.
“Tell that pussy where you are, Beauty. Bring him to me.”
The threat in his voice was in juxtaposition to the smile on his face.
I quickly hung up the phone. There was no way I was bringing Jamieson here. I loved him too much to sacrifice him to this monster. And let’s be honest, it would truly be a sacrifice.
“You’re testing my patience,” Raziel damn near growls. “Have I not been kind to you? I’ve provided you with space, a fully stocked closet with all the latest fashion, your own room. I even hired a chef to prepare you anything you want to eat. What more do you want?”
Jumping to my feet, I face him despite the fear trying to make me sit back down.
“I want my fucking freedom.”
Even though his eyes are already jet black, they seem to darken more. His jaw ticks. There is so much tension in the room you could cut it with a knife.
