She set the drink down after only a sip, but that heated feeling didn’t come close to fading.
“Can you teach me Russian, Dmitri?” Luna said, obviously put out from the attention being off her. “It sounds sowonderfulcoming out of your lips.”
Alisa snorted, and Luna narrowed her eyes on her.
I smirked. “What is it, Alisa?”
“The only time your lips are wonderful is when they aren’t moving,” Alisa teased in Russian.
I leaned into her. “Would you like me to demonstrate how wrong you are?”
My gaze tilted to her lips. They parted slightly as she sucked in a breath.
My smirk deepened when she jerked away from me, a flush rising across her cheeks.
Jayden tapped his fingernails against the wood coffee table. “I might need to learn Russian if it can make a beautiful girl react like that.”
The reminder that we weren’t alone slammed back into me. This wasn’t the time to play with my kitten as much as her very presence incited me to do exactly that.
Chapter twenty-one
Alisa
“I’m sure there’sa lotDmitri can teach me,” Luna said, arching her back as she leaned forward.
I swallowed, waiting for Dmitri to repeat the line that’d gotten under my skin and wormed its way into my brain at inopportune moments.
Despite everything, I couldn’t deny the way he looked. His broad shoulders and observant eyes unlocked something deep in my core.
Instead of responding to Luna’s innuendo, Dmitri turned his attention to me. His eyes darkened as if he was remembering the same sentence that’d driven me crazy.
I crossed my legs to ease the ache beginning to tunnel deep inside me. I desperately wished I could take the risk of being unfocused and take more than a sip of that drink.
Anything to diminish the pulse aching in my core.
Unfortunately, both men’s eyes were now locked onto my tightly crossed legs.
Jayden’s pupils expanded as his gaze drifted from my legs up to his favorite spot. As the moments passed and his eyes stayed latched onto my chest, I held in the frustration seeping through my skin.
“I’m curious,” Jayden said, eyes still glued to my chest like he was having a staring contest with my breasts. “About this competition to become the heir of the Vassiliev Bratva.”
“What about it?” Dmitri’s tone was sharp, and Jayden finally dragged his gaze away.
“I’ve heard your Pakhan ranks you based on performance.”
“Sounds fun,” Luna chimed in.
Fun was the last word I’d use to describe a competition where we lived or died at the whims of the Pakhan.
“Care to elaborate?” Jayden said, his voice casual, but I could decipher the intelligence behind his eyes.
Alarm bells niggled at my consciousness. It’d been too easy to categorize him as just a lecherous asshole. But if the Bratva had chosen him as a distributor, there had to be more to him.
When Dmitri hit him with a dismissive look, Luna finally spoke up.
“It’s getting late,” Luna said, stretching her arms in a way that emphasized her chest. When she leaned forward and arched her back, I somehow found the self control not to roll my eyes.
Her eyes locked onto Dmitri’s and a sultry smile spread across her lips. Something sour swelled in my throat, and I told myself it was just disappointment. When she’d entered the room, I’d had very different expectations for her. The irritation I felt had nothing to do with her making a move on him.
