“We can if we don’t get caught.”

“We’re gonna get caught eventually.”

Gracie sucked in a deep breath and stepped closer, her body just a breath from mine.

“Perish,” she said, voice soft. “This isn’t going to last forever. Eventually, Cameron isn’t going to be a threat anymore. And then… then I’m out of here. And we’ll go back to only seeing each other every month or two in passing. And I just…” She sighed. “I just want to get as much as we both want from this while we can. Safely,” she added. “I’d hate for you to be saved from being Cameron’s next victim to being murdered by my uncles.”

To that, I let out a huff of a laugh.

“Your concern for my safety is fucking touching, baby.”

“Iamworried. Which is why we can only keep doing this if we are careful. But… can’t we be? Just for a few more days?”

Some ugly part of me wanted to make some joke about how much she wanted my dick. But it felt wrong. Because some part of me knew that it wasn’t just that.

When I looked down at her and saw that sweet, open vulnerability in her blue eyes, I knew I wasn’t the only one who knew it was more than sex. For both of us.

“Okay,” I agreed.

“You don’t have to sound so grave about it!” she said, eyes rolling as she lifted a hand to playfully slap my chest. “It must be such a chore to sleep with m—”

She lost the end of that sentence as I grabbed her by the throat, my lips crashing on hers as I backed her up against the sink cabinet.

I kissed her long and deep.

The kind of kiss that didn’t have any expectations.

And that, well, that was a first for me.

It wasn’t until I heard a bike outside that I finally, regretfully, took a step back.

I watched her lashes flutter open, eyes all dreamy as she looked at me, lips a little puffy from mine.

“Okay,” I said, running a hand down the side of her face to cup her jaw. “Until you leave.”

She gave me a nod.

Then I turned and walked out to the bedroom to dress.

There was only one thought on my mind.

I never wanted her to leave.

CHAPTER TWENTY

Gracie

“Soooo,” Layna said in my ear as I flipped through my notebook for the next party I was planning.

“So, what?”

“Is he as good in bed as I imagine?”

“What?” I squeaked. But the sound had two of my cousins looking over, making me lower my voice.

“Oh, come on. We both know something was already going on there before you started shacking up at the club.” Worried her voice might carry, I casually walked back to the basement as if I were looking for something. “And if you’re both on lockdown there, you’re totally fucking. Is it hot? I mean, I’m sure the sex is hot. But is the sneaking around hot? Damn, I wish I’d been that brave.”

“You are very brave.”
