I don’t see any of it because I’m too preoccupied by her. By my life source and undoing in one.
“Y-you’re not going a-anywhere, Severin.” Her voice shakes, and it almost brings me down to my knees. Her fingers start to play with the hem of her purple sweater nervously. “You can’t go out there. Do you hear me? You can’t! Tell him, doctor! Tell him!” Aurora demands frantically, her chest shaking with fear.
“What are you doing here?” I take a step toward her, aware of the many eyes watching us curiously from behind but they can stare all they want.
“I was looking for you. I ran into some guy, but he refused to help me, he didn’t want to let me in to see you…and I needed to see you. Do you understand, Severin? I needed to see youbecause you’re a fucking asshole! You went and got yourself hurt out there!”
“There you are!” One of the support staff I don’t know comes flying into the room, his eyes immediately settling on my Aurora as he runs up to her and grabs her arm. “The police will be here in one minute, you stupid b—”
A roar comes to life inside me and I move without thinking.
AURORA
“There you are!” The guy I punched just a minute ago comes running into the locker room, clutching a towel to his bloody nose, with two security guards behind him. He charges at me, grabbing my arm. “The police will be here in one minute, you stupid b—” His speech gets interrupted by a loud, threatening growl just before a wall of muscle and storm rushes at the man.
I gasp. Sava has the guy pressed against the wall with one arm with his feet dangling in the air in a split of a second.
“I dare you,” he says in a low growl that seeps under your skin. “I fucking dare you finish that sentence.”
“Wh-what are you doing, Severin?” the man chokes out, the blood pouring from his nose and over Severin’s hand now that the towel he was clutching lays discarded on the floor.
“Mr. Minaev! Let go of him!” One of the guards rushes at Sava but before he can get there another wall of muscles stops him.
Exton.
“Back off,” he says to the guard who hesitates before trying again because a few more players got up from their spots, and for the first time since I ran out of the arena, I catch on to what I’m doing and where I am.
I’m in the Outlaws locker room…Oh my God.
I didn’t think. I wasn’t using any sane thought, fueled by my only need to see him, to see my Severin, and now I’ve made an even bigger mess.
I take a step closer, his height even more menacing in his skates and place my hand on his. “Sava…” He shrugs me off.
“What is your name?” Sava growls into the bloody man’s face.
He tries to gulp. “F-Frank. Frank Gill, I work in management here.”
“Frank Gill, do you have a death wish?”
“N-no.”
Severin cocks his head to the side, the move almost animalistic. “I think you do. Because you dared to put your hands on my girl.”
“I-I didn’t know! I swear! I’m just doing my job! That woman ran in here without authorization, she assaulted me!”
I know this stance. I’ve seen that look in his eyes when he fought off those two men the other day, but when my eyes quickly dart around the room, it’s evident no one else has seen this side of Severin Minaev before.
I take a shaky breath in. “Sava, please, let him go.” I put my hand on his once again, only feeling coiled, hard muscle full of fury and tension under my touch.
Those golden eyes flash to mine for a second before returning to the man. “I suggest you get the fuck out of here and you do it fast.” Suddenly, he lets go of Frank who slumps down to the floor, coughing and clutching his throat.
“I-I will sue you—” he starts but before Sava can jump on him again, another player gets in the way. He’s large, with long dark hair and dark as night eyes. The back of his jersey reads Goram.
It’s Anze Goram.
“Frank, I suggest you take Severin’s suggestion and get the fuck out. You two as well.” He nods at the guards. “There’s no danger here, as you see. Just a misunderstanding.”
Frank looks like he disagrees, but an older guy comes up, placing a hand on his back and starts leading him out with a narrowed look thrown Severin’s way. I realize it’s Coach Hill.
