I suck in a breath. There’s no mistaking the love in my son’s eyes when he speaks about Severin.

“Your dad, huh?”

“Mm-hmm, we had a big man talk and decided Mr. Brick is going to be my dad.”

“Ohhh, I see.” I turn my gaze back to the man in question and he shifts on his feet as if he’s suddenly shy.

“I didn’t know you could cook.”

“Um, the eggs and toast are the pinnacle of my cooking skills, but I already solemnly swore to learn how to make pancakes.”

“And Russian cheese thingy you talked about!” Emett pipes up and Sava nods.

“And that.” Sava points to Emett’s grinning face.

“Can I go play the hockey game?” Emett asks, and Sava looks to me for approval, but I leave that decision up to him.

“Yeah, bud, go ahead,” he tells him, and Emett runs down the hallway with whoops and hollers.

Sava wraps his arms around me and pulls me into his chest. “Threw me under the bus on day one, did you?”

“Pshh, that was nothing! Wait till he comes to you in the middle of the night when he can’t fall asleep because his pee-peeis all hard.” I shiver at the reminder of that particular night, and Severin lets out a loud laugh.

“I don’t see anything funny about that! I was not equipped to deal with that,” I add when he’s still laughing.

“I solemnly swear to be the one to deal with pee-pee problems in the future,” Sava says, barely suppressing his laughter.

“And you can’t just sneak in his favorite ice cream when ‘Mommy doesn’t see.’”

“So, you heard all that, did you?”

“I did.”

“Are you mad?”

“No, Sava. I’m not. I had no idea he felt like that already.”

“Me either.” He shifts around me.

“I’m just worried all of this is moving too fast. One second, I believed I’d never see you again, and the next I’m in love with you.” I bite the corner of my lip. “Are you sure about this decision? You know you can’t go back without breaking his heart.”

“I’ll probably mess up a thousand times. I’ll most likely say or do the wrong thing. And there will be more nights when I won’t be there than I am because of my work but I was never more sure of anything else in my life. Emett is mine. You’re mine. And I’m not letting go. It might’ve felt like seconds to you, but for me? I’ve waited a long time for you.”

I turn to putty in his arms. “God, you do say all the right things,” I whimper pathetically as the corner of his mouth lifts in that sinful grin as he draws me closer and kisses me.

His hands slide lower and lower until he glides over the curve of my ass and groans into our kiss.

“Don’t you know it’s a ridiculously bad decision to come near me without any panties.” He slips his fingers under the hem of the shirt and over to my drenched, aching pussy.

“Speaking of panties,” I pant into his mouth as my hips shamelessly start to roll over his fingers right smack in the middle of the kitchen. “Care to explain how a few of my pairs ended up in your closet?”

“I stole them,” he says into my neck without an ounce of shame, licking down my sensitive skin as his fingers slowly glide in and out of me.

“Y-you stole them?” I stutter, clutching the countertop behind me as my stomach tightens.

“Mm-hmm.”

“Why?”
