Twenty minutes later after a scolding and a few kisses, I was back in my whip getting the fuck on. This tradition the Atkins had was gon’ take away the boredom. I still hadn’t given Yonnis the documents he requested or the blood test. I needed to get in good with the women. It was clear they ran them niggas. Then again, from the letters I read,Uncle Royceowed this family reunion to a nigga.
I was able to maneuver through traffic and get to Stride Stadium in a timely manner. I followed Iris’s instructions and ended up in a secluded parking area strictly for the Atkins. It made no sense how much money they had and threw around. To my surprise, no one had made it inside yet. I smirked before deliberately parking beside Royce’s white Rolls Royce. This family was a line of luxury.
Stepping out, all heads turned in my direction. Confidence was something a nigga walked with regardless. They all wanted to hate me, and I was trying to understand why. Yeah, I robbed the head but, in my defense, he should’ve never made it so easy. It was what it was.
“Hey family. I’m a lil’ late but a nigga made it,” I spoke rolling up to Iris and stretching my arms for a hug.
“Don’t touch her,” Royce spoke in a threatening tone.
That caused Black to turn around and look me up and down. I knew what that lil’ nigga was capable of, and he could throw them bitches fa sho. His lil’ ass had some pressure behind him. However, he couldn’t beat my ass. He got off with his boys and Royce by his side. He wasn’t fuckin’ with me one on one.
“Why not? Auntie tell the kids I’m straight,” I taunted. She gave into my request with a brief hug pissing Royce clean off. I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Can we not do this here? I’m not in the mood to stop fights between grown ass men. Hi Bentley,” Royce’s wife voiced causing him to look at her with a scrunched up face. Seemed like everybody was playing in his face today.
“Hey Klarity,” I replied with a smile.
“I’m gon’ fuck around and go back to jail. Call Yonnis and tell him to meet me downtown,” he commented.
“I’m here nigga. This ain’t shit but a phone call,” Yonnis said stepping up with his twin on his side. I didn’t even notice him roll in cause he wasn’t here when I pulled up.
Royce smirked and looked at me with menacing eyes. I knew I was playing with fire, but I couldn’t stop. The Atkins had something that belonged to me. I wasn’t leaving this bitch without it.
“Auntie, am I not wanted? You said I could come and bond with the family. Don’t seem like family want me here.”
“That’s cause we don’t and you ain’t family bitch,” Black finally interjected.
“Could’ve sworn my name was Atkins just as much as it is yours. They can accept yo’ goofy ass but not me. Yeah, tell me y’all ain’t fuck with my mama without telling me you ain’t fuck with her. I ain’t trippin’ though. Auntie, I’ll holla at you some other time,” I lied.
I went to walk off and was grabbed by my wrist by Iris herself. “No, you’re staying right here. Junior you and Genesis are going to accept him. Like it or not, Bentley is the only piece of my sister left. Senior, talk them before I show my ass,” she defended me.
Royce Sr. punk pussy ass followed his wife’s instructions like a lap dog. None of the niggas had backbones, and I found that to be comical as fuck. He stepped in between us holding his hands in the air. I never noticed how much Royce and Black looked like him.
“Aight y’all. I get the frustration and shit but my wife not ‘bout to keep repeating herself. If you ain’t fuckin’ with my nephew, leave. It ain’t that hard.” Senior was trying to put his foot down, but them niggas ain’t pay him no mind.
Black’s response threw me for a loop. “Nigga fuck you and yo’ wife ain’t shit for me to be listening to.”
“Aye, I done told yo’ ass one too many times ‘bout that one. Fuck yo’ punk ass daddy all day, but my mama…” Royce said stepping in Black’s face.
“For Christs sake, stop! Look, he’s family whether you two like it or not. Royce, it’s only for a couple of hours and then everybody can get the heck back to their regular scheduled programs. And watch your mouths, the kids don’t need to hear that crap,” the beautiful dark-skinned woman I noticed on day one chimed.
“Stay out of it Heidi. These are men fussing and won’t listen, especially Royce,” Yolani added.
Heidi. It fits you.
“Oh, that’s exactly who’s ‘bout to listen. Royce, my son is here, and I refuse to let him see this foolishness. Either cut it short or catch me and mine some other time. I’m not even playing right now,” she said sternly.
Royce looked over at me and spoke to the collective. “Keep the bitch ass nigga away from me. And Gen, that’s my last warning ‘bout Iris fuckin’ Atkins. Y’all ain’t gon’ be satisfied ‘til I drop somebody. Hell, I ain’t either while I’m bullshitting,” he said smiling off that last statement.
Walking off, he led the way into the stadium with everyone else falling in line. Heidi stood back for a moment saying something to her son. From first glance, she didn’t carry the appearance or demeanor of a mother. I was a lil’ surprised by her stating she had a kid. She was so damn fun sized.
I saw her struggling with tying her son’s shoes due to her nails. Stepping up, I got a knee and helped out. She took a step back and said, “Thank you, Bentley. And sorry for the chaos from Royce. Whatever you did to him, he’s not letting go. Family is big to him, and he loves it dearly. However, you… he sees no room for you. Why is that?”
He ain’t no fool, that’s why.
“I have no idea. I mean, I took from him but that was me just hitting up a new city. Got word he was a big tymer, and I was looking to expand. It wasn’t nothing other than me taking over new territory. Imagine my surprise when the letters came through saying he was family. I showed my face to change the vibes and get right. He ain’t trying to hear that though. It’s cool. My mama was run away, so I expect nothing less.”
I was milking this shit, even though I did find it fucked up how Royce Sr. chased his sister out of town the way he did. Shit, if it wasn’t for Bentley’s grandma making sure they were straight, I was sure he would’ve knocked them off. I only had beef with Senior because he took my Pops out before I could confront him.
