Joe sits on the very edge of his chair, hands clasped so tightly his knuckles have gone white. His jaw is locked.
Sarah sits beside him, counting on her fingers with the intense focus of someone trying to solve quantum physics.
JOE(spitting the words):
“This is a joke. It’s obviously rigged. Did you see the scoreboard? ‘Fire Bonus’? ‘Diva Points’? Since when is love measured by how much a host in sequins likes you?”
(Runs a hand through his hair, furious)
“Sloane has always manipulated the game. Always. And Becker… Becker’s just a prop. You’ll see. They’ll crash and burn.”
SARAH(interrupting, still counting):
“But Joe, wait… if we had 130… and they got the bonus… plus the square root of the marshmallow… why are we fourth? Shouldn’t we be third? Or maybe fifth?”
