“Yeah?” Tech asked with a proud smirk.

Rather than answering, Blossom speared an asparagus and placed it into her mouth. Once again, a moan escaped her as her lids closed. She hated to act like she’d never eaten good food before, but Tech had done his thing, and she refused to not acknowledge it.

The lambchop would be the real deciding factor. Daintily, Blossom held the lambchop between two fingers before sinking her teeth into the tender meat. “Oh my God,” she murmured against the lambchop. “You could start a food truck and make a killing.” She chewed and licked the remnants of the food off her lips.

“You think so?” Tech’s head slightly angled as he studied her to see if she was serious or just gassing him.

“Heck yeah! No one has ever told you that before? I would suggest a restaurant, but a food truck is way less overhead and a little easier than an entire restaurant.”

Tech’s brow cocked as he mulled over the idea. It wasn’t a terrible one. Blossom continued to devour the food, and Techeyed her with satisfaction. He hadn’t lost his touch, and she’d put the idea of a new business venture in his head. Of course, it would take some time because he didn’t want his sons buying him the food truck. No matter how long it took him to save the money, it was something he wanted to do on his own. His sons had done enough for him.

“You thinking about it?” Blossom noticed that he wasn’t eating.

“Actually, I am. Thinking about how long it will take realistically to buy a truck. Not a cheap one either. A good, reliable one.”

“You seem like the kind of man that puts his mind to something and gets it done, so I doubt it would take too long. I’m sure your sons would love to help you.”

“I know they would. That’s why I’m not telling them. I wasn’t playing when I said I didn’t want them doing anything else for me. I want to get it on my own.”

Blossom lowkey felt childish because she’d thrown the comment out there just to see what he was going to say. She was impressed, however, that he wanted to do things on his own and that he didn’t act as if his kids owed him. That earned him major points with her even if she didn’t speak on it.

“Did your sons’ mother work when you two were together?”

“In the beginning, she did. Especially before I really started getting money. When I started seeing enough to get us nice cars and shit, her job came in handy because I was a dope boy. I had the money for things, but I couldn’t put anything in my name, so her check stubs were what we used. Our apartment, cars, everything was in her name.” Tech paused to bite into a lamb chop.

“The more money I started to make, I was able to pay people to make us check stubs. We had a little cleaning company and shit. We just did enough to be able to get the things that wewanted. After baby number two was born, she didn’t want to go back to work, and she didn’t have to. Really, she didn’t even mind working because I gave her money and paid all the bills. What she made from working was just extra. She would literally take a whole check, go to the mall, and get her and the kids fresh. Or spend her whole check on a birthday party or day of fun.”

“So even though she didn’t have to, you didn’t mind that she worked?”

Confusion made Tech’s face contort. “Why would I mind if she worked?” He was able to answer his own question when he recalled that she told him how her ex didn’t want her playing in the WNBA. “Oh nah, I didn’t try to control her. And never would have been insecure if she wanted her own.”

“You made illegal money, though, right? You said it came fast, and it was a lot. What if you had a regular job making good money, but she got a job making more money?”

“I’m a hustler,” Tech stated unapologetically. “There’s a certain way I was determined to live. If the job that I had was able to provide a life for us that I was satisfied with, I wouldn’t have cared about her making more than me. If the life that I was providing wasn’t satisfactory to her, I would have tried to do what I had to do to level up.”

Per usual, his answer was a good one. Blossom believed him. Nothing about him gave insecure. In fact, she got the feeling that if his woman was in the WNBA, he’d be right there at every game cheering her on. The revelation made her heart sink a bit. She couldn’t go back, and she promised herself long ago to stop dwelling on the past. Blossom couldn’t help but wonder how her life and career would have turned out, if she’d had a supportive partner.

Blossom finished her food embarrassingly fast. When she was done, Tech still had a bit of food left on his plate. “Please don’t talk about me when I leave.” She chuckled.

“Why would I do that? The goal was to feed you. I’m glad you liked my food. It would have been embarrassing if you didn’t.”

“Can I fix another drink, or will that be doing too much?”

“Help yourself. Just don’t drink too much if you plan on driving home. I intend on being a gentleman, but if you drink too much, you’re sleeping in the spare bedroom.” His tone was laced with authority that made her clit swell.

He was sticking to his word about not hounding her for pussy, and it was turning her on. Blossom walked into the living room, wondering if she’d be making a mistake if she made the first move. She commended his discipline. Or maybe he was lying, and he’d had sex already. As Blossom poured tequila into the glass, she bit her bottom lip and contemplated her next move.

Tech entered the room as she was mixing her alcohol with pineapple juice. Grabbing the remote off the coffee table, Tech sat down on the couch while turning the television to a music channel. The sounds of Jodeci filled the room, and Blossom stared out of the windows while sipping her drink. The entire vibe was sexy. Her nipples hardened, and her breathing hitched. Before she made up her mind about what to do, her body sent her signals that it knew what it wanted.

Pivoting, she walked over to the couch while ignoring the way Tech was ogling her. Blossom sat so that she was facing him. “You really haven’t had sex since you came home?”

“I really haven’t.” Tech didn’t blink.

“Your restraint is admirable.:”

“It’s far from easy, but I can do anything I put my mind to.”

“You have been a gentleman indeed, and I like that you didn’t want to run me off by being sexual too prematurely. But we’re both adults. You’re sexy, and I give you permission to stop being a gentleman.”
