Why would you need twenty-one slides for a presentation?
I’ll be here forever!
Five minutes later, I found out why. She’d gone through more trouble than all the others. She’d actually put together examplesof campaigns she’d make for us, and I was intrigued. Unfortunately, I was also spacing out. I simply didn’t have enough brain cells for this today. I was exhausted, and I kept checking my phone, expecting Bella or my grandmothers to reach out any second now.
“Mr. LeBlanc?” she asked, apparently realizing she’d lost my attention.
I looked at her and cleared my throat. “Please repeat the question.”
“Of course. Which part?”
“All of it.”
She frowned, shaking her head, obviously not happy with me. Well, if she didn’t like my attitude, she could leave right now for all I cared.
Piper
This was a waste of time. As soon as I set eyes on Beckett LeBlanc, I realized this wasn’t going to work out. I’d read a lot about him to get an idea of who I was dealing with. Most articles considered him a party animal, not the serious type, and by the looks of him—dark circles under his eyes, pale skin—he’d probably walked into the office straight from an all-nighter.
He was beyond unprofessional, looking at his phone more than at my presentation.
“I was merely wondering if you have any favorite ads from my suggestions.”
“Honestly, everything looks good.”
“Then I’ll continue.”
I’d come up with four different types of campaigns we could run for them. I kept my eyes on the screen as I spoke, notwanting to look at him unless absolutely necessary. Not just because I was pissed, but also because he was so handsome that I ran the danger of losing my train of thought.
When I finished, I slowly turned to look at him.
Oh, for fuck’s sake! This was unbelievable. The man was staring into space, probably not even listening to anything I’d said.
“All right, that’s it. That’s my pitch.”
It sounded lame, but what else could I say? This was really a waste of time. I was annoyed that he was just ignoring me. Why we’d even want to work with him was beyond me. Well, they would be one of our biggest customers… so yeah, there was that.Damn.
He immediately straightened up in his chair. “This was a very good presentation.”
“Really? Did you even listen to half of it?” I blurted.
Damn it. This was not the way I did things. I was never unprofessional. But deep down, I knew Beckett wouldn’t sign with us, and honestly, I was a bit offended that he didn’t give me his full attention. That was rude, and Josh was going to be terribly disappointed.
Beckett rose to his feet. “I listened to enough to make up my mind.”
“I see.”
He narrowed his eyes. “Ms.…”
“Dawson. It’s Piper Dawson.” My God, he hadn’t even bothered to remember my name. That was just great.
“I have a feeling there’s something you’re not saying.” He flashed me a smirk.
Oh, what now? He wanted to tease me, antagonize me?
“I could say the same,” I replied, folding my arms over my chest.
“You’re right,” Beckett said. He pointed to the screen. “Your presentation was good, but I have to click with the agency I’m going with. So far, things are not going well.”
