“Good morning,” she says, sounding happy and breathless as I continue to kiss my way up to her lips, and the smile that splits my lips is big enough that it almost hurts.

My cock twitches in agreement, and I reach for my phone to let Nathan know he’s going to have to handle breakfast this morning.

With only two weeks before Christmas, Des has decided we need to go and see the tree.

Just thinking about the tree makes my face heat, something Alex and Des have been more than happy to take advantage of.

As if that’s not bad enough, it also makes it so that I can’t meet Vince’s gaze either. I didn’t even think about it before, but they only have one main driver, which means he’s the one that Des and I gave a show to last year.

If the universe could just swallow me up, that would be great.

We’re going this Saturday; apparently, we have a chalet, which Des explained is like a little cabin, near the tree. We will be skating, eating, taking pictures, and doing something else they haven’t mentioned based on the way Des just about loses it every time someone mentions the tree.

I can’t even begin to imagine what it is with them, but even more than that, I’m worried about skating.

I’ve never been ice skating, and the last thing I want to do is embarrass them.

My stomach rolls at the thought, or maybe it’s the coffee?

I’d been feeling queasy since everything that happened, but I thought it was the stress of life and well… death. I expected it to go away, but it’s still hanging around, which is why, instead of practicing skating today like I’d hoped, Oliver asked me to make a doctor’s appointment.

I dump the rest of my unfinished cup of coffee and rinse the glass, feeling Nathan’s gaze follow me.

I turn around to find him watching me with a brow raised, clearly confused. I can’t say I blame him; most days I’m a two-cup kind of girl.

“This cold is kicking my butt. It just doesn’t taste right.”

If anything, that makes him more suspicious, but he doesn’t comment.

“I’m going to go take a shower before Addy gets up. Addy is going to hang out with Vince while I’m at the doctor’s so that you all can go into the office. We will just ride with Vince when you're all off so that we can hit the city to finish up some shopping.” I make my way back across the kitchen, throw my arms over his shoulders, and drape myself over his back, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

“Let’s aim for around noon, and that way we can have lunch together first. Addy’s favorite sushi place is in the city. You’ll love it.”

What five-year-old has a favorite sushi restaurant? At five, the only food I really liked was mac and cheese or PB and J.

“Will that be enough time for your appointment?” Nathan asks, pulling me from my musing and back to the conversation at hand.

I chuckle as I nuzzle into his neck, not even feeling the least bit weird when I sniff him.

He always smells so damn good.

“Should be plenty of time. My appointment is at ten, and it’s just a check-up. I hate to get Addy sick.” The second the words are out of my mouth, my brain catches up, and I realize what I’m doing.

“Don’t you dare.” Nathan grabs my arm, holding me in place just as I move to pull away.

“I don’t want to get you sick,” I protest, attempting to pull away again, but he doesn’t let go. Instead, he turns so we are eye-to-eye, maneuvering me so that I’m now standing between his legs. He uses his free hand to grasp the back of my neck, pulling me toward him until our lips once again meet, this time for more than just a sweet kiss.

No, this kiss has my toes curling and my pulse racing, and despite my reluctance to get him sick, when he pulls back, I’m sad for him to go.

He’s a dirty cheater.

“I’d pick kissing you always. I don’t care about the reason you say not to. Being sick would be worth it, and it’s not as if Addison will never get sick again, Kat. Her immune system could probably use the exercise.”

I laugh and shake my head because I’m not sure that’s how it works, but I can’t be sure; either way, it sounds funny.

A sharp sting on my ass makes me yelp, and I jump in surprise as Nathan’s eyes sparkle with mischief.

“Go get ready before I throw off both of our days, and there’s no hope for making any appointments.” He says it like a threat, but honestly, it sounds like a good time if you ask me.
