“That was close,” she said with an elated grin as she slowed, turning to face me. The wind whipped her hair around her face, and her cheeks were still hot from only minutes ago. She was stunning. She was fall-on-the-floor-and-beg-for-mercy stunning.
“My God.” I raised my hand to her face to touch her, no less mesmerized by this being in front of me than I had been since the moment we’d met. “You’re perfect.”
She laughed at this, throwing her head back just enough to expose her curvy, freckle-dotted neck. When she lowered it again, I caught her cheeks between my hands and kissed her, kissed her until once again, we were breathless and hungry for each other.
“I’m not perfect,” Macey whispered as she rested her forehead against mine. “I’m not even close to perfect. I hope perfect is not what you were expecting.”
“You’re perfect forme,” I said, and she only smiled at this as she held my hands in hers and we walked back to the car, led by the brilliant light of the moon and stars above.
“It’s late, but some places should still be open,” I said, wrapping my arm around her waist. “How about that date?”
“A real date?” she mused. “A real date with my real boyfriend?”
“A real date with my real girlfriend.”
“Jayce, that sounds lovely.”
Chapter 18
Macey
For the first timein my adult life, I forgot to set an alarm on my phone, and when I finally woke up cuddled in Jayce’s arms, I’d already missed my first class of the day.
“Holy shit.” I sat up abruptly, pulling the sheet with me to cover my naked breasts. Jayce stirred as well, his eyes fluttering open to look at me, the crazy girl in his bed with the wild eyes.
“What’s wrong?” he mumbled, tugging me back down until I was lying on the pillow again, quietly trying not to freak out.
“I missed class,” I said, and Jayce laughed. He actually laughed.
“Notclass,” he said. “Whatever will you do, Mace?”
“I don’t know about you, sir, but I don’t tend to miss my classes. I like to do well. My future depends on it.”
Still grinning, Jayce rolled over and propped himself up on his elbow to face me. “You do very well,” he assured me. “Even if once a year you miss a college class. There’s a reason assignments and lectures are posted online.”
“Yes, I know that.” Scowling, I hunkered back down into the blankets. It was too late to try and go now, and despite Jayce’s teasing, there was nothing I wanted to do more than lay in bed with him and just...be.
