“Whatever.” I climb into bed, refusing to make eye contact, afraid that if I look at her I’d spill everything. “Go to bed or I’ll kick you out.” I tuck myself in and force my eyes to stay closed as Mabel giggles into my fucking pillows.
There wasn’t even an ass crack for dawn to have with how early Lola showed up. Lola—being the lovely younger sister that she was—knocked so softly I could have rolled over in my bed and pretended to ignore her but Mabel—demon older sister shit stirrer—must not have even tried to sleep because she jumped out of the bed like it was on fire as soon as the first knock sounded.
I couldn’t help my groan as Mabel tears her way through my house to let our little sister in. Why did I think it would be a good idea to try and strengthen my relationship with my family members?
“Elle? I brought donuts. Will you get up and let me know why we have Mabel dancing around your front room?” Lola’s voice does nothing to calm my nerves. I know I made the right decision asking them both here to give the play by play.
“Hurry up, sluts!” Mabel’s voice sounds muffled and I sit up in bed, that bitch was already digging into the donuts.
“Not a slut!” Lola yells back as she leaves my bedroom. I drag myself out of the safety of my room and slowly make my way to my sisters. There’s a twinge of pain in my hip and I can’t help but bite my lips to stop a smile.
“You’re not a slut, yet. I’m going to wear you down, convince you to come out with PJ and me. I can’t wait for you to go wild.” Obviously, Mabel’s finished her donut. Her hands are empty as she rubs her palms together like a cartoon villain.
“I’m too busy to go out or go wild like you and Paul.”
“Has Paul even been going out lately?” I question, the last time I heard about Paul and Mabel going out was the first night I went out with Patrick. That had been almost three months ago. Mabel lets out a small sigh and shakes her head. “No, we haven’t gone out in five-ever but I know he would come out with me if I could get Lola Bowla’ to leave the Farm for once.” I look at Lola and she has a pinched look on her face.
“Don’t call me that.”
“Aw, come on baby sister. It’s so cute.”
“I hate that nickname. It’s like calling Elle by her full name.”
I know she’s just using it as an example but even the mention of my full name starts a fire of anger in my stomach. I know it’s irrational but I’m tired and my anger, that usually rests just below the surface on a good day, sits on top of my nerves doing a tap dance just waiting for the moment to attack.
“Let’s move on. Elle, what’s going on? Is this about Patrick moving?” Lola directs the conversation to me, ready to get to the reason they’ve come over.
Patrick fucking what?
“Moving?” My question comes out harsher than I intended. Mabel and Lola both flinch but quickly recover. Lola proceeds to tell me that Paul and Jude were able to work some magic to get everything completed and Patrick was due to move into his new building on Monday.
I couldn’t settle on one emotion as I took in what my sister was telling me. My gut reaction was excitement to have my space again but there was another emotion that was tickling the back of my neck like an uncomfortable tag on a new shirt.
I couldn’t work through understanding that dark spot right now. I had asked my sisters over for a reason and I needed to get this over with so I could reach out to Patrick and see how he felt about everything.
“I didn’t know. Uh, I spent the day with Patrick yesterday but we didn’t really talk about anything.” It comes out like a question. I hate how unsure I sounded. I was there, I came more times than I thought possible, my panties were still in a bag Patrick had lent me but I was new to this. I was 28 years old and I’d never willingly participated in girl talk. Paul and Mabel had no qualms with sharing all the guys and girls they had been with. Lola was quieter about her bedroom adventures but I was aware she had more experience than me.
“You banged!” The exclamation scared the shit out of me. Mainly because it was Lola screaming at me. “I knew it.” Mabel’s acknowledgement feels like a whisper coming behind Lola’s. I bite my lip and nod my head. “A few times.”
“Oh my god!”
“How was it?”
“Did you come?”
“How big?”
“How many is a few?”
Question after question burst out of my sisters and there’s no way I would be able to answer a single one of them. I can feel a blush burning my cheeks as they continue the verbal assault. “Okay, knock it off you perverts.” I raise my hand to silence them. “I will answer one question each then I’m eating a donut and going back to bed because I have a shit ton of work to catch up on.” Mabel immediately starts jumping up and down, waving her arm in the air like she’s at school and she really wants to answer the teacher’s question. “Boss sister, you may go first.” Lola smiles and Mabel lets out a huff of indignation at me ignoring her.
“Thank you. I would like to know if you are satisfied with the experience.”
Yes. Fuck yes. I’m addicted to the experience. No way in hell I’m telling her that. Mabel would never leave. “Very satisfied. Mabel, your question?” I’m leaving no opportunities for follow ups. “I’m going to slowly move my fingers apart. Just tell me when to stop.” Her pointer fingers are pressed against each other and she does, in fact, start to slowly separate her fingers. I’m momentarily confused before I look up and see the smirk on her face.
“Don’t be fucking gross. Your opportunity for a question has been revoked. Get out of my house.” I snatch a donut from the box on my dining room table and turn my back to them, determined to get a little bit more sleep before I check in on Patrick and talk to him about his upcoming move.
