Once she’s gone, he grins at me. “Not much of a drinker anymore either. And we have a busy day tomorrow, so a hangover is not something I need.”

“Sounds like you’re due to perform again. Well, provided the fried circuit gets taken care of?”

“Scheduled to play in the afternoon, so we’ll see how it goes. Jerald has a buddy who’s an electrician, and I’m betting he’ll be here first thing in the morning.”

I simply nod as I take another drink. Vikki returns immediately, placing a glass of water in front of Xander. He offers a thanks before taking a drink himself. We both sit in awkward silence for a moment.

“So—” We say at the same time. I smile as Xander starts again.

“Any plans for tomorrow evening?”

“Well, there’s this musician I met…”

“He any good?” Xander grins.

I chuckle. “More than good, actually. Probably has all the ladies vying for his attention so I’m not sure he’ll have time for me.”

“He’d be an idiot not to make time for you.” His tone is serious as he fixes his gaze me, his eyes almost smoldering.

I hold his stare. “I thought I’d see if he wanted to join me at the Delray Beach Playhouse for—”

“Kevin James, Adam Sandler, and Anjelah Johnson.”

“Yes,” I chuckle. “Don’t tell me you already have tickets.”

He shrugs, grinning. “Okay, I won’t tell you. I’ll just have to find someone to pawn them off to.”

I laugh. “I have four; Dani and her husband, Dom, are joining me. How many do you have?”

“Two, but I’ll see if Holly and Rafe want them. They were bummed when they weren’t able to get any before the show sold out.” He cocks his head. “So you obviously like comedy.”

“I love comedy, and those three are ridiculously hilarious. They aren’t afraid to break boundaries or even make fun of themselves. Calling their tourTwo Chumps and a Gringaproves that point.”

“Yeah, there are those who thought it wasn’t very PC, but it isn’t meant to be. It’s all in fun.”

“Like Anjelah’s routine about a Vietnamese nail salon, which never gets old. You don’t hear those individuals in an uproar about it. Did you know she was an Oakland Raiderette?”

“I might’ve read about that.” He winks.

I chuckle. “I’d love to see her in more movies, in bigger roles. One of my favorite movies with Adam is50 First Dates. I adore Drew Barrymore. And I love that scene inHitchwhere Kevinis showing off his dancing to Will Smith. I can’tnotbreak out my dance moves whenever Usher’sYeahcomes on.” I begin laughing, imagining that scene in my head. Before I know it, Xander is mimicking those very moves and reciting the lines, making me laugh even more.

“I start the fire.” He’s rubbing his hands together. “I make the pizza.” He then swirls his fists around one another in front of his chest before rubbing his fingers together next to one ear then the other. “From there, the Q-tip, Q-tip, throw it away.”

I almost double over with laughter while he continues, making high-pitchedooah,ooah, noises.

I manage to find my voice as I try to say in a serious tone, mimicking Will Smith, “Don’t ever do that again.”

But I lose it, laughing more as Xander joins me.

“Besides great music, sounds like we just found something else in common,” Xander says.

“Yeah, yeah,” I sing then laugh more.

When our laughter settles, we simply stare at one another for a while, smiling, until Xander breaks the silence.

“Care to take a walk on the beach?”

“I’d love to,” I say without hesitation.
