“Are you rejecting me?” I ask, my voice shaking.
“What? No!” he says hurriedly, cursing. “Fuck, I didn’t mean, I just—”
He advances on me, and I pull back, not wanting to feel his rejection anymore. It hurts.
It fuckinghurts.
“You don’t want to,” I say, fear hitting me. Oh my God, I’m an idiot. I—
“It’s not that, I—” He curses again, growling in frustration. “There are things that need to happen in order for you to reach maximum satisfaction. You need a nest with ample pillows and blankets, and—”
I watch as he unravels, and then it hits me. The words fall out of my mouth without warning.
“Have you ever had sex before, Olly?”
His wide eyes and open mouth combined with his flushed cheeks tell me the truth before his mouth does.
“No, but that has nothing to do with—”
I close my eyes and let out a deep breath. Now it makes sense.
“You as an omega need certain things to feel safe so that you can…enjoy the process.”
Process. He just called sex aprocess.
I can’t help but laugh, and he furrows his brows at me. “What? What’s so funny?” he growls.
Hegrowls.Emmett’s words reverberate in my brain.
Sometimes alphas growl when they are trying to entice a pretty omega.
“What do you need, Olly?” I ask as I stand my ground.
His shoulders loosen. His gaze finds mine.
“I need you to have the best experience possible, of course.” He says it so matter of fact it’s funny.
“And what do you think would give me that?”
“Your nest, for one.” He looks around the office. “Having intercourse in my lab would contaminate evidence,” he says pointedly, “and I did not do all this work to risk contamination.”
I nod. “Alright then.” I grab his hand, and he lets me. I tug him towards the door.
“What are you doing?” He asks quickly.
“Taking you to my nest so I can fuck you,” I say solidly. He pales, and I think for a moment he’s going to refuse. But instead, he says, “For science?”
I have to contain my grin and laugh. “For science,” I assure him, and that seems to change his tune. He nods and follows me with ease.
I hold his hand tight as we walk down the hall, and he doesn’t say a word. We pass the kitchen where Gage and Emmett are standing in conversation, and they both look at me, then at Olly, but I don’t meet their gazes. I move fast, worried if I take too long hewillchange his mind.
And I’m already worked up, that ever-present need within me rising like a force. I was so close to coming earlier with his fingers teasing me, and I wholeheartedly would have let him fuck me against the counter in his office if he wasn’t so uptight about contamination.
Maybe one day, though. Baby steps, Auryn.
When we get to the quarters, I see Diego through his open door. He’s sitting on a chair and looks to be reading. I know he sees us, but unlike Gage or Emmett, he doesn’t stare, and for that, I am thankful. I drag Olly into my room before he can notice Diego, hopefully, and lock the door just as fast. He looks a little terrified, like he isn’t sure what to do, and I suppose if the tables were turned, I’d need some direction, so that’s what I do. I direct him.
“Take off your clothes,” I say. “Now.”
