“We’re here.” Tiny stopped over a field covered in white flowers of various kinds.
We all stopped to look at Tiny to see if she’d lost her mind because there was no cabin. The flowers were breathtaking. There were two waterfalls on the opposite sides of the flowers, flowing with water that looked like a smokey white color, giving the illusion that it was smoking. The water moved through the falls and pooled in ponds surrounded by crystals of all colors. This place was majestic. Nevertheless, there was no cabin for us to sleep in. I liked nature but not enough to sleep in it.
“Uhhh, Tiny, where is here exactly?” Halo asked skeptically.
“Ahumado Falls. Such a lovely place to be able to sleep. To be able to see Fate’s creativity up close and personal is a blessing.”
“Ion know about nobody else, but I ain’t sleeping outside.” Cree looked at Tiny with his lips curled in a scowl.
“As long as your mind is closed and your mouth is open, you’ll never learn,” Tiny replied while frowning right back at Cree. “Sleep under the stars or under a roof. It shouldn’t matter as long as Fate is near.” Tiny looked at all of us before shaking her head.
Raising both her hands, Tiny waved them up and down, and she began swirling in a circle as streams of light flickered from her hands. The ground rumbled as the white flowers began to come together and form a three-story house. We all looked on in amazement as the house settled on the ground before us. The entrance to the house looked like we were walking into a giant flower. I’d never in my life seen anything like this.
Tiny smiled at us as she floated in front of the flower house. “If you wish to shower, either fall will offer you privacy. There are clothes for everyone in your rooms. I’ll be back in the morning for us to resume our trip.” Tiny winked then snapped her finger, disappearing in her normal fashion.
“Does she always do that?” Hendrix asked curiously.
“She does. If you’re around long enough, you’ll get used to it,” Cree answered.
Hendrix nodded his head at Cree, and then he turned to Kenzo. “Can we talk? There are a few things I didn’t get to tell you.”
“Talk now,” Kenzo grumbled while eyeing Hendrix.
“I’m sure you have your suspicions, and trust me, I understand, but I swear I’m not trying anything weird. I just wanted to warn you about Mateo.”
“Fuck Mateo. He can’t handle me on my worst day,” Kenzo confidently replied.
“Don’t get too cocky. Never underestimate your enemies,” Cree chimed in.
“He isn’t an enemy. He’s an idiot,” Kenzo responded unenthusiastically.
“I hear you, Kenzo, but he isn't the regular Mateo anymore. That Dark Mage gave him something. She said she could see the darkness in him and that he deserved to be the leader of the Bear shifters. She gave him something that made him stronger and more powerful. Most of all, he’s more evil. He was talking about killing your mate instead of killing you. He wanted you to suffer like him since he doesn’t have a mate anymore.”
“He killed his mate, so now he wants to kill me?” I asked with my finger pointed to my own chest.
“It doesn’t make sense. Mateo’s mind is twisted,” Hendrix said while shaking his head sadly.
“Let him try that shit if he wants to,” Kenzo said with his fists balled up and an angry glare.
“He also has Chameleon shifters all around your cave waiting to ambush you when you come back. If that doesn’t work, he’s going to challenge you to a fight to the death, but he isn’t going to kill you,” Hendrix said with concern on his face.
“We’ll worry about that when we get back. Right now, we all need to rest to prepare for the rest of our journey tomorrow,” Cree spoke up. “Let's relax.” He then headed into the opening of the flower doorway with Halo on his heels.
Kenzo looked at Hendrix and Millan with confidence in his stare. “I’m going to kill Mateo. I don’t give a fuck what he got going on. Fuck him and that Dark Mage he’s working with.”
Hendrix nodded his head in understanding before grabbing his mate's hand as he went inside of the flower house.
“Do you trust him?” I asked Kenzo curiously. He cast his burnt orange eyes in my direction, and chills ran down my spine from his heated glare.
“There are only three people I trust,” Kenzo replied with a stern expression on his face.
“Who?”
“Fate, my Bear and my mate.”
I didn’t know why hearing Kenzo say he trusted me caused me to blush. It filled me and my wolf with joy knowing Kenzo trusted us. Ugh, I was finally going off the deep end. Or I was accepting my life for what it really was, and I can admit I was liking it more and more each day.
Slipping my hand into Kenzo’s, I allowed him to lead us into the flower house, although I was sure I was gliding on air the entire time. I was just happy I was with Kenzo.
