“Hell nah. I know you aren’t talking about the Great Prophecy the Alpha Trio is a part of?” The disdain in my voice couldn’t be mistaken. I wanted no parts of the foolishness Fate had going on. Yes, I believed in Fate, but that didn’t mean I wanted to be a warrior for Fate’s Prophecy to be fulfilled. All I wanted to do was love my mate, have a few cubs, and live happily ever after. All that other bullshit, the Alpha Trio could deal with.

“You know what I speak of, and you and your mate’s destiny has already been decided.”

“Well, tell Fate to undecided that shit,” we grumbled. Neither my bear nor human liked how that shit sounded.

“There is no undeciding. You have been given a great honor. Do not disrespect Fate’s will.”

“I guess.” I knew there was no point in going back and forth with her. If Fate said our destinies intertwined with the Great Prophecy, then we had no choice but to trust that Fate would see us through it.

Shaking my head, I turned in the direction of my cave. Before I even thought about a Prophecy, I wanted my mate to wake up. We could deal with all that other shit after.

Chapter Six

BELLAMY ROSE

“Tag! You're it!”my best friend yelled before she took off running in the opposite direction. When she got halfway, she shifted into a beautiful gray wolf.

I couldn’t let my best friend out do me when I was the oldest out of the two of us. She was only younger than me by a few months, but I was still the oldest. My wolf was on the shyer side, and I was working on getting her to become more comfortable with coming out. At fifteen years old, I should have been able to shift at will by now. My mom often encouraged me when I felt discouraged, and my dad would take me to the fields whenever I wanted to practice shifting. I had been able to shift a few times, but the attention that was brought to me whenever I shifted made me and my wolf nervous.

Every shifter who laid eyes on my wolf marveled at my fur. Said it had to be a sign of blessing from Fate. I hated the attention my wolf got, and so did my wolf. The only time my wolf felt the most comfortable to come out was when my best friend was around. My wolf was as close to her wolf as we were. Both of our moms were a part of the Gaurendeir Bloodline, which made them sisters in a sense. My best friend and I were both part wolf and part Mage. Our moms were bestfriends growing up, so it was only right that their kids became best friends.

My best friend’s mom had been behaving oddly, and my mom hadn’t been wanting me to go over their house as much as I normally did. My mom would never explain what was going on, but she’d tell me to be wary. Staying away from my best friend wasn't going to happen, though.

My best friend was helping me find my confidence, and I didn’t know what I would do without her. She had a carefree spirit I loved. Nothing scared her. Her wolf was just the same. The confidence her wolf had made my wolf feel secure. Seeing my best friend easily shift gave me the determination to follow suit. Running at my fastest, I fully relaxed, my focus on catching up to my bestie, and I allowed my wolf to come forward.

Snow white fur sprung out my skin as I began to shift into my wolf.Yes!I was able to shift at will. My wolf and I were filled with joy as we chased after our best friend’s wolf, running through the tall grass until we saw the fluffy gray tail swaying in front of us.

“You did it!” my best friend mindspoke with me. “I’m so proud of you.”

“Thank you,” we bashfully replied as we were still chasing behind my cousin when her wolf stopped running outta nowhere with her head turned to the west with alert. “Something is wrong.” We could hear the worry in their voice.

Stopping our pursuit, we stood next to her, not moving a muscle to see if we could hear what had alarmed her.

“Aaaahhhh.”

Hearing a male scream in pain, we took off in the direction of the scream, running as fast as we could. We sprinted through the small forest through the clearing until we came to a dirt path, and the unmistakable scent of blood hit our noses.

“Wait!” I called to my best friend through mindspeak. She was about to run into the woods without knowing what was in there. “Maybe we should get help,” I tried to reason. We weren’t the strongest wolves, and there had been a lot of reports of rogue shifters in the area.

“No. My parents are in danger. I can smell their scent faintly through the blood,” my cousin defiantly said before sprinting down the dirt path.

Letting out a sigh of aggravation, we followed behind my cousin. The further down the path we went, the stronger the scent of blood became. The fact that my cousin could smell anything beyond blood was a testament to how strong her wolf’s nose was. My cousin’s wolf let out a roar that couldn’t be mistaken as anything but sorrow. I sprinted at full speed to catch up to her before stumbling onto a sight I could barely comprehend. There was so much blood, it looked like the ground was made from blood instead of dirt. In the middle, my aunt was covered in blood with a deranged smile on her face. She looked at us with glee, no sign of fear on her face.

“My Snookie Pooh. This isn’t how I wanted you to find out.” The malevolent smile on her face sent chills down my spine. Hearing my cousin’s cries of pain, we felt helpless. We didn’t know what to do.

We tried to go over to my cousin to comfort her. With every step we took in her direction, she seemed further from us, until we broke out in a sprint, chasing her image as everything changed into blackness. I reached out in one last effort to grab my cousin. Frowning, I realized I was back in my human form. Confusion started to settle in as I looked at my hand.I’m not a wolf,I told myself. I didn’t have any cousins. What the hell was that dream?

“It’s time for you to remember.” Teeny appeared in front of me.

“Remember what?” I asked in frustration.

“Who you are,” Teeny replied calmly.

“I know who I am. I’m Bellamy Rose. A human. My mom died in a fire. I never knew my dad. Shifters killed my fiancé.”

“You know nothing, silly child. Your mom is alive. She is waiting on you.”

“You’re lying,” I gritted out with a frown. I knew for a fact my mom died in a fire. Whatever this lady was talking about was either a lie or she had me confused with someone else.
