“Shit,” Warren said and tapped Paul’s arm.“The asshole is going after Petra.”

“Who’s that?”

“My girl,” Paul said as he whipped around and saw Eddie reach up and grabbed Petra by her arm to prevent her from walking away.He didn’t think about anything, he just reacted. As he whipped the chain from around his neck, he looked at Warren.

“Step back.”

Warran did and the other three joined him.Paul whistled, then screamed, “PET!DUCK!”The entire time he yelled, he was swirling the log chain above his head, and before anyone knew what was happening, he released it like a lasso. When he had whistled, everyone had turned and when they heard the whomp, whomp, whomp of the chain being twirled, they stepped back.

As soon as Petra gripped Sally’s arm and dropped to the ground, Paul let loose the chain, he was about twelve feet away, and since it was twenty feet long, he knew he had plenty of space. He let it fly, and as soon as it wrapped around Eddie’s arm, the end continued to swing and hit him in the back of the head.Paul winced, and jerked the chain the same time he looked at Warren and the others.“That’s going to leave a mark.”As he jerked the chain, Eddie flew backward several feet to land on his ass, then laid flat on his back.No one moved or said a word as he gathered the spare chain around his neck to walk over to where Eddie lay.

He reached down to feel for a pulse, then looked up with a nod.“Still breathing.”Then he rolled him over and inspected the back of his head.“No broken skin, he’ll be fine.”He chuckled as he rose, and shook his head.“He’ll probably have one hell of a headache, and maybe a slight concussion.”He ignored everyone and hurried over to Petra and Sally to help them off the ground. As soon as they were standing, he asked if they were okay.

“We’re fine,” Petra said and shook her head.“I see you haven’t lost your touch.”She laughed as she gripped the side of his face and brought him down for a kiss.“Thank you.”

As they talked, Sally hurried over to where Paula was and undid the leash, and Warren had gone through Eddie’s pockets to find a set of keys.He joined his sister to unlock the lock around her neck, and as soon as she was free, she burst into tears and threw herself into Sally’s arms.

“Can you get me out of here?”the younger woman asked through her tears.

“Yes, give me a few minutes though. We’re going to have to deal with what just happened.”

“We got this,” Larry said as he joined them and looked at Paula.“Are you okay?”

“I am now.No offense to any of you here, but being a bikers old lady fucking sucks.I am never, ever going to associate with you assholes again.”She turned her back on Larry, and Paul held his breath when he saw the anger come across several faces of the men and women there.

Petra gave him a look, and he nodded. He turned back to the other three and asked through gritted teeth.“We good?”

“Yeah, after seeing what you did with that chain, you have our permission to start your club.It looks like you can handle yourself.”Ted looked at Warren.“We’ll deal with this.”

“Don’t let me find his body in a shallow grave somewhere. If I do, or hear about it, I’ll be coming after you.”

The three men grinned and held up their hands defensively.“Not going to happen. He might have to push his bike home in his birthday suit, but we won’t harm him.”They paused and said as one, “Yet.”

Warren and Paul shook their heads and went to the women.Sally had gotten Paula on the back of her bike, and Petra, standing guard, was waiting for him.Paul walked up to Paula.“Where do you live?”

“Why?”

“Do you live with Eddie in his home?Or is it yours?Do you have a vehicle that is yours and not his?”At her expression, he lowered his voice.“I’m asking to see if you’ll be safe once Eddie gets home.If you have a way to leave.”

“Oh, yes, I have my own vehicle. As much as I stayed with Eddie, I kept my own apartment.”

“Does he know where it is?”

“Yes, but I would never allow him to spend the night there.I told him my landlord would jack up my rent if he did.He would come over, hang out, but never spent the night.”

“If you’re sure.”

“I’m sure.I even have money set aside from an inheritance.Eddie knew nothing about it.Once I get home, I’m going to grab my packed bag and get the hell out of this state.I’m going to my brother’s house. He lives three states from here.”

“Good,” Paul said and handed her a business card.“If you need anything, and if by any chance Eddie finds you, call me.I may not look it, but I have friends in high places that will help you.”

“Thank you.”She took the card and put it in her back pocket.“Once I get home, I plan on being on the road within the hour.”

They nodded, and it wasn’t long before the five of them left.Sally and Warren rode in front, with Psycho trailing behind them.He hoped they would go directly to Paula’s home, and he wasn’t disappointed when Sally took them in a different direction than his place, or Warren’s bar. When he saw the brake lights, he slowed and followed them into a driveway. As soon as their bikes were shut down, Paula got off the bike, removed her helmet, and held out her hand to Sally.

“Thank you for the ride.”She turned on her heel, but Sally hurried after her.

“Not so fast,” Sally said.“Petra and I will help you pack whatever you need, and Warren and Psycho will pack your vehicle.Which one is it?”
