“A club,” several of the men said and nodded at them.

“If you guys are starting this club,” Colt said as he leaned forward and cradled the cup of coffee before him, “Then you guys will be the founding members, aka, the charter members.Do you know who will hold what position?”Colt asked to see if he could trip them up from what they had said earlier. He listened as they all said which position they would hold, and he looked directly at Rankin as he nodded.“I’m assuming that if you have approval from Flynn and Kessler, then you’ll be setting up where there is some notorious one percenters in the area?”

“Yes, when we leave here, we’re going to break up for a few weeks to months. Each of us have some personal business to take care of before we can commit to this new endeavor one hundred percent.Once we finish our unfinished business we can get together, start this club, and have our positions fulfilled.”

“Officers,” Colt said.“Your people to fill the positions are officers.”He leaned back and Jeb poured more coffee for the ones who wanted it and nodded once.“Think of setting up your club like it’s a military unit.If I recall, you were in the Army, and I don’t know about the rest of you, but way back when, some clubs were started by people that served together. The club is a brotherhood. My own club, the Steele Men, are former Navy SEALs that I commanded when we served together. With you being the president, Paul, you’re the one in charge, the commander, then the VP is the second in command.”He looked at the men with Rankin and asked.“You guys ever serve?”When they all said they did, then he went on to explain how he had set up his own club, the Steele Men after he’d been medically discharged from the Navy. They all talked for several hours, and at one point, Colt leaned forward, reached behind him, and took out the gun at the small of his back, he only laid it on the table because it was pinching a nerve, and he wanted to relieve the pressure.

“There’s only one thing wrong I see with this entire plan of yours, Rankin,” he said, and scowled as Hank, George, and the rest of them also put a gun on the table before them.

“What’s that?”Rankin asked, while eyeing the guns.

“You’ll have to die.”

Chapter 2

Before anyone couldsay something, all the men froze when they heard a door slam, then all of a sudden when a voice called out, Colt scrambled to put his gun away, and several of the men with him didn’t bother covering their smirks as they heard a shouted voice.

“Grandpa Witt, I’m hangry, you got any food?”

“I have cookies,” Witt called out with a grin as he looked at Colt.

“Thank you!Let me drain my bladder and I’ll be right there.”They heard boots pounding down the hall, and Colt looked at Witt.

“What? You want to tell your daughter that she can’t eat?”

“No, fuck me,” he said and shook his head.He looked across the table at the confused men and shook his head again.“My daughter has an extremely high metabolism, and if she doesn’t eat every two and a half to three hours, it gets ugly.”He sat up when he heard her cowboy boots clattering down the hall toward them. Before he could say anything, she called out.

“Grandpa Witt, can I have milk with my cookies?”

“Yes, we’re in the dining room.”Jed had just set the glass of milk on the table when she sauntered in.She only paused for about two seconds as she saw all the men sitting there, and nodded once.Ignoring them all, she strode forward, looked at where a plate holding several cookies, and a glass of milk was, then grinned at her father. He held out his arm, and she crawled onto his lap.As soon as she took her first bite of the cookie provided, she closed her eyes and didn’t let up on her eating until she had finished two, and drank half of her milk.Colt shook his head when she used the back of her hand to wipe her mouth.

“Where’s you’re napkin?”

She shrugged, and grabbed the one handed to her. After finishing her third cookie and the rest of her milk, she settled back against her father with a heavy sigh.“Thank you, Grandpa Witt, I really, really needed that.”

“You’re welcome. How did you get here?”
