“Sit.”
We go back and forth several times from sitting to standing on all fours, and I happily do it as I get a little treat every single time. This is the first solid food I’ve had since I got here. I want more.
“Good girl,” he purrs at me.
I beam up at him, smiling wide as he stares at me proudly. Something flutters in my chest, and I gently place my hand above it. What is going on with me?
“You feel it?” Daddy asks.
“Feel?” I respond.
“Yes, the connection between us. You want to please me, and when you do, you get this feeling in your chest like it’s about to explode,” he explains.
My mouth hangs open as I look at him. He knows.
“We’re going to learn one more command.” Daddy smiles. “I’m going to stand back here, and you are going to stay in your spot until I tell you to come.”
I hold my eye roll back as he walks several steps away. For someone who doesn’t know what a dog is, he is really treating me like one.
“Stay.” He holds his hand up.
My eyes are focused on the treat. That’s the only thing I want right now, so if I need to stay where I am until he tells me I can move, that is what I’m going to do. Not because I want to follow the rules he gives me, but because I want the solid food.
“Come to Daddy.” He pats his thighs.
I shakily crawl to Daddy, and when I make it, I smile wide at him as I sit on my bottom and open my mouth, ready for the treat. Daddy chuckles and shakes his head, but I keep my mouth open until he plops it in my mouth.
I savor the few chews I get before looking back at Daddy, wondering what we are going to do next. If he going to tell me more commands or are we going to sit around and do nothing.
I wrap my arms around myself as I start to get a little cold. I’ve been so far away from Daddy that my body is starting to shiver from the lack of contact. Daddy told me he’s turned up the heat, but I can’t seem to keep the heat in my body.
“Cold, Little companion?” Daddy asks.
Nodding, I look around the room. He has to have clothes for me somewhere or be able to get them. I can’t always be glued to his side , even if I wanted to. He has things he needs to do, and it’s evident by him putting me in the kennel and leaving for several hours.
“Words.” He raises an eyebrow. “We’ve talked about this before. You are intelligent, and you will use your words from now on when I ask you a question.”
“But not when someone else asks a question?” I ask, not knowing if I’m going to see anyone else for it to happen.
“No, when someone else asks you a question, you will look at me to see if you can answer. If I say no, I will answer the question for you,” Daddy replies, his tone flat and serious.
My mouth hangs open as I look at him, my whole body shivering from how cold I’ve gotten. I need clothes desperately.
“Yes, I am serious. You will look at me before you answer any question someone else asks. They will understand.” Daddy kneels in front of me. “Now, are you cold?”
“Yes,” I whisper, my teeth chattering together.
I still don’t have anything on, not even a diaper to provide just a little warmth.
“Can I have clothes?” I ask. “Or a blanket?”
There is a blanket in the kennel, but I’m pretty sure it got covered with my pee, and I don’t want it near me right now. Does he have another one?
“No,” he replies. “None that would fit or help you stay warm.”
Is he considering clothes?
“But I may have to get you clothes if I want you to come with me to the office. I don’t want other people staring at you. As much as I would like you on display for me at all times, other people will be distracted as it is,” he mumbles to himself. “Your blanket is washed the laundry right now, but when it’s done, I can wrap it around you.”
