“Are you ready to put her down for her exam?” Yamal asks.

I try to struggle in Daddy’s arms as he walks over to the table. I don’t want to be on the table. I don’t want to be looked over.

“No,” I mumble, but my arms are limp.

Daddy sets me on the cold table, and my body immediately starts to shake as the chill seeps into my skin. Teeth chattering, I look at Daddy, begging him with my eyes to pick me up again.

“You’re okay,” he whispers as he places a hand on my chest, warming me slightly. “Daddy is right here and I’m not going anywhere.”

That isn’t the problem, though. Well, it is part of it, but I am freezing cold.

“We’ll place a blanket over her and move it whenever I need to look at something,” Yamal offers. “Do you have a blanket close by?”

“Yes, we used one while we were walking here,” Daddy replies, his hand leaving my chest. “I’ll go get it.”

Whimpering, I cry out to Daddy, but he doesn’t stop. He continues out of my line of sight, leaving me alone with Yamal who I don’t know.

“You’re okay. Your owner is going to come back soon with a blanket,” Yamal murmurs. “Everything is going to be okay.”

But everything isn’t okay. Daddy isn’t with me, and I feel this pull toward him that I need him close to me at all points.

“Here you are.” Daddy places a blanket across my body. My body starts to slowly warm up with the soft material over me.

“I’ve never seen a connection this strong between human and Venkorian,” Yamal points out.

“There are only two of us.” Daddy rolls his eyes.

“Yes, but Luna didn’t seem as deeply connected with Julan as your girl is with you. She was whimpering and crying out for you. She had tears in her eyes, and her body started to shake more,” Yamal lists off.

I hadn’t even realized I was shaking. My mind was on Daddy and wanting him back. I shouldn’t want this, not when I don’t even know him or what he really wants with me. I should try to get away from him and everyone on this planet.

But where would I go?

I have nowhere to run to and no clothes to wear. I will freeze if I try to leave the building by myself. Even with Daddy holding me close to him and a blanket around me, I was getting cold.

“Don’t even think about running away.” Yamal raises his eyebrow. “There is a GPS tracking device in your collar that will tell your Daddy wherever you are. You will be found and punished.”

I open and close my mouth several times before settling down. I didn’t realize there was a tracking device in the collar, and I have no way of getting it off. Daddy told me early on that there isn’t a way to get it off, that it’s staying on me forever.

Forever.

“My Little companion wouldn’t think of running from me. She knows she wouldn’t like the consequences. She knows I’ve paid for her, so she is mine and no one else’s,” Daddy squeezes my hand.

Right.

I want to bite back at Daddy and tell him I’m not his Little companion, but exhaustion weighs down on me even worse than before. I don’t remember a time when I’ve had this much going on in my life, and it’s taking a toll on me.

“Let’s get through this quickly. Then I’ll feed her and put her down for a nap.” Daddy runs his hands through my hair as he talks to Yamal. “She looks absolutely exhausted.”

“I’ll be taking a urine sample, taking her temperature, and checking other vitals,” Yamal tells Daddy. “Can you strap her down? The straps go under the blanket, so if I need to move it, I can do so easily.”

Straps?

Daddy takes the blanket away from me, and before I can say anything, Daddy and Yamal start pulling straps over my wrists and torso, keeping me in place. I clench my legs together as I look around, wide-eyed.

“What are you doing?” My voice even sounds exhausted.

“We are putting straps over you so you don’t move when Yamal is looking at you. We also don’t want you to fall off the table,” Daddy explains.
