A flood of arousal and adoration pulsed from her to me, and my movements grew jerky and uncoordinated, sweat slicking our skin as we slid together.
“Come with me, Faylinn,” I begged. “Come with me.”
Faylinn cried out, her hips rising to meet mine as I felt the first flutters of her orgasm. The feeling of her wet heat wrapped around me, of her coming undone because of me, sent me over the edge, and I groaned my own release into her neck.
My cock twitched, what felt like endless ropes of cum painting her insides as the Bond roared in my soul, connecting us for eternity.
“I love you,” I whispered into her ear. Her touches turned soft on my back as she came down from her high.
“I love you, too,” she breathed, the admittance burning a place in my memory.
“How didyou find my cottage? Make your way through the wood without becoming lost?” Faylinn mumbled sleepily, her hot breath fanning against the exposed skin on my chest.
I paused my ministrations, fingers tangled in her wild curls.
“I followed your runes,” I admitted. Faylinn frowned.
“It was like a trail lit only for me—those runes you carved into the trunks ofoaks and maples. Without your teaching earlier, though, I would’ve become helplessly lost. Never met you at your cabin in time. Altered the course of Elyria’s future . . .”
My words hung in the air, growing and shifting as Faylinn processed.
“Meddling gods,” she finally groused, burrowing deeper into my side as a laugh burst from my throat and rumbled within my chest. We stayed like that for longer than I could count, tangled in each other’s sweaty limbs, basking in the bright thread that connected our souls.
We were irrevocably tied together with a Bond and an understanding that couldn’t be broken.
“Faylinn?” I asked, eyes trained on the thatched roof of her cottage. She hummed noncommittally, nearly asleep. As much as I wanted her to rest and recover, knew her body needed it, I wanted this answer more.
“Why now? Why were we able to finally complete the Bond tonight?”
Faylinn stiffened imperceptibly before relaxing once more.
“Because I made a bargain with Fate,” she said simply.
“I hate when you do that,” I grumbled, much to Faylinn’s amusement.
“Yes, but I’m relatively certain you’d appreciate this one. It was the only way to save you after . . .” She trailed off, unable to speak, though I knew instantly of what she was speaking.
“After I killed Alois and drained my power,” I replied flatly.
Faylinn nodded hesitantly against my side, her words small and quiet.
“You died, Rohak. Youdied. And the only way to bring you back was to bargain with Fate. You returned, but sacrificed your magic to Meru. We kept the Bond, but I would have to give my immortality in payment once it was completed.”
Her words hung heavy in the silence of the cottage. My whole body tensed, breath ragged, as the reality of her agreement hit.
“Rohak, say something,” Faylinn pleaded, pushing up on her elbows so her face was directly in front of mine.
Tears stung my eyes.
“You sacrificed your immortality . . . for me?” My voice was hoarse with emotion. No one—no one—had ever sacrificed something so important for me.
Faylinn’s mouth twitched at the corners, her smile falling flat as emotion bled through her irises.
“Of course I did, Rohak. It may have taken us a few years to see eye-to-eye, but you were mine from the moment I saw you. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for you—giving up my immortality was the easiest decision. Rejecting you time and time again when I could finally feel the depth of your devotion to me as well?Thatwas nearly impossible.”
“Why? Why did you keep it for so long?”
“Because I knew I would need it one last time.”
