“No, that’s not—” he spluttered.
“I can’t believe it,” I laughed. “You’re supposed to bemyfriend.”
Oliver gave me a wry grin. “What can I say? I’m easily influenced.”
“Ain’t that the truth.” I snorted. “I haven’t seen your stoner mates around much lately.”
“Nah. To be honest, there’s only so much weed I can smoke before it all gets a bit samey,” he replied. “Thought I’d have a break from it for a bit.”
I just nodded, holding myself back from saying what I really wanted to. I casually got my phone out of my pocket and opened my chat with Becca.
MAX: What have you done with my friend? You’ve fucked the slob out of him!
I saw her come online, then three dots appeared…
BECCA: What can I say, Max? My sex game really is that good.
MAX: Personality transplant level skills – impressive.
BECCA: I learned all I know from gay porn.
At that, I laughed aloud. Oliver looked at me questioningly and I shook my head. Still smirking, I tapped out a reply.
MAX: Well, we do know our way around a cock. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up. I like this new Oliver.
BECCA: Will do.
I looked down at the box on my lap again. “Do me a favour and make sure you’re staying at Becca’s next Friday,” I said to Oliver.
“I’m sure that would have been the plan anyway, but sure.” He paused. “I’m guessing I don’t want to hear about whatyouhave planned if you’ve asked me to make myself scarce.”
“No, probably not.”
With any luck, I’d be putting some of those videos Becca spoke about to shame, but I wasn’t about to be sharing tips and tricks with her anytime soon.
With my mind still on Oliver’s unsavoury friends, I had an idea.
“Hey Ol?”
He looked up at me expectantly.
“Before you cut ties completely, I don’t suppose you could arrange to meet up with Evan one last time?” I asked.
Oliver raised a brow incredulously. “Why?”
“I’d like to get a CD signed.” I smiled, before hurriedly adding. “It’s not for me. It’s for a friend.”
Oliver shrugged. “Sure, I guess. I’ll text him and see what he’s up to in the week. I can probably get the rest of the guys to sign it too, if you’d like?”
“That would be perfect. I’d owe you one,” I replied.
“Nah, after the strings you pulled with Becca? I definitely oweyou.”
I wasn’t one for keeping score. I simply shrugged and nodded. Teegan would be ecstatic.

“So, where are we going?” Rowan asked as I slipped into the passenger seat next to him. My eyes nearly rolled into my head – his car smelt of that delicious mix of aftershave, clean linen andhim. I suddenly lamented my choice of evening’s entertainment, wishing I could rip that dark shirt right off him.
