Before I could finish muttering to myself, my pocket vibrated. I sighed and rolled over onto my back to fish my phone from my jeans. I frowned, why did I have so many notifications?

I opened my messages, pleased to see Rowan’s name amongst the list.

ROWAN: Care to tell me why I had to hear about your drunken escapades at the local strip club from my daughter at 8am this morning? x

Followed by:

ROWAN: Honestly, I leave you alone for one weekend haha! The video is kind of hot, though x

Oh, fucking hell. I swiped it away, tapping into Facebook. The very first thing that greeted me was the video Louise had taken from last night of Tori dancing with me. She had captioned it: ‘Magic Max’ along with a flame emoji. I was going to kill her.

I scrolled through the comments, groaning with embarrassment. Teegan’s name was next to a thumbs up, indicating she’d liked the post… and had then obviously told her dad. I wanted the ground to swallow me up.

I went back to my messages and replied to Rowan.

MAX: Kill me now x

There were also messages from Becca and Oliver, both taking the piss, and another from Louise. She’d sent me a copy of the video, asking if I’d like to keep it. I rubbed my face. As if the hangover wasn’t punishment enough.

Suddenly my phone lit up and started rumbling in my hand.

Rowan calling…

I hesitated, debating whether to answer at all, before sucking in a breath and pressing the green phone symbol.

“Good morning, Magic Max.”

“Oh, fuck off!” I laughed. My stomach flipped just hearing Rowan’s deep voice on the end of the phone.

“I think it’s got a nice ring to it.”

“I’m so embarrassed. I can’t believe she posted it up for everyone to see,” I groaned.

“You looked like you were having fun. How’s the head this morning?” Rowan asked. I could still hear the amusement in his tone.

“It’s been better. Did you want anything, or did you just ring to poke fun at me?”

Rowan chuckled down the phone. “A bit of both, I suppose. I was missing your voice, so I thought I’d make the most of the five-minute reprieve I’ve got whilst Teegan is in the shower.”

“Oh god, and I’m sorry about that too. I didn’t even think about Teegan being able to see the things I’m tagged in. I bet that was an interesting conversation.”

“I think I nearly choked on my tea when she said you’d gotten a dance at a strip club.” He laughed again. “How did that come about?”

“The girl in the video is one of Louise and Jackie’s friends. We went along to watch her perform, but I didn’t realise I’d be taking part.”

“Very sexy.”

I snorted. “Come off it. I was awkward as fuck up there.”

“Have you watched it yet?” Rowan asked.

“No, I can’t bear it.”

“Watch it back and tell me it’s not kind of hot.”

I smirked. “It sounds like you think so, at least. It did something for you, did it?”

“It certainly did,” Rowan all but growled. There was a long pause. “I’ve missed you this weekend.”
