“Sorry. It didn’t... That wasn’t how I imagined this would go.” Rowan didn’t look me in the eye, and I felt a wave of panic hit me.

“How’d you mean?” I asked, glad my voice managed to mask the turbulent emotions filling my chest.

“I feel like...” He let out a frustrated sigh. “Just, well, after wanting to do that for so long, I feel like I let myself down a bit. I haven’t cum that fast since I was a kid.”

I nearly laughed; the small flush of embarrassment looked out of place on a man his age. I hadn’t even considered he would be concerned about his performance.

“Sorry,” Rowan muttered again, and I smirked.

“Guess the myth about old men’s stamina isn’t true, huh?” I teased. The pillow in Rowan’s hands was roughly hurled back at me.

“Don’t make fun. It’s been three years since I last had sex, give me a break!” Rowan laughed breathlessly.

“What now?” I lifted my head in alarm. “Did you say threeyears?”

“Well, yeah,” he replied, suddenly embarrassed again and looked down to pick an invisible thread from the sheets.

“Wow, that’s... That’s a long time,” I muttered.

“Don’t I just know it.” Rowan smiled softly.

I eyed Rowan curiously before clearing my throat. “Are you gay?” I asked bluntly. Rowan flinched, looking like a rabbit in headlights. He shuffled uneasily and looked everywhere but at me.

“I, uh...”

“Sorry, that was a bit abrupt.” I sighed. “I had planned to beat around the bush a bit more, but y’know. I guess having someone’s cock up your ass makes you wonder about these things.” I grinned.

“Nicely put,” Rowan replied sarcastically with a wry smile.

“I try,” I replied. “So, are you? What’s going on here?”

“Well, can I ask you whatyouare doing here with me first?” Rowan retorted and I scoffed.

“I asked first.”

“Humour me. Answer my question first and I’ll try to answer yours.” He shifted his weight, lifting the sheets up and sliding between them. I copied him, climbing into the cool bed.

“So, you want to know why I’m here?” I asked and Rowan nodded. “Well, that’s pretty easy. I think you’re... I think you’re really great.”

There was some indecipherable emotion on Rowan’s face now. Curiosity shone through his green eyes, pushing me to elaborate.

“I mean, uh,” I floundered. “You’re funny, kind and smokin’ hot.” That earned me a deep chuckle.

“Even though I’m ancient?” Rowan asked.

“You’re not that old.”

“I am, Max.” He smiled softly. “I’m nine years older than you. I don’t know what I did to deserve your attention.”

“Are you gay?” I asked again. Rowan sighed.

“Yeah,” he admitted quietly. “I did toy with the idea of being bisexual for a while. Shit, I don’t know, maybe I still am, but I definitely seem to have a preference for men over women.” There was a moment of silence, but it wasn’t awkward; both of us taking in the new revelation.

“How long have you known?” I probed gently.

“For sure? About ten years. Give or take.”

“Wow, and you haven’t done anything about it untilnow?” I exclaimed, rolling over onto my side to face Rowan properly.
