Milo: According to my program, the generators are off and power in the town has been restored.

Walker: Damn, that was fast! Awesome!

Connor: I put in a few calls to public works but haven’t heard yet about when the road is going to be cleared.

Connor: I’d say you’ll definitely be stranded until Tuesday.

That meant he and Maisie had at least another full day all to themselves.

Axel: That’s all good news!

Slater: Really? Staying stranded is good news to you? Lol!

Axel: I wasn’t planning on going anywhere. This was supposed to be a relaxing weekend.

Axel: I just did a major walk around the property and documented where all the damage is.

Walker: Is there a lot of it?

Axel: We’ve got at least twenty trees down but only three cabins were clipped.

Axel: All in all, we made out okay.

Walker: Well, that’s a relief.

Walker: Do you have enough food to keep you going until the roads clear? You weren’t planning on having a guest through the weekend.

Axel: We’re fine. I went shopping before the storm hit and then I took all the perishable stuff from up at the lodge. But if the roads don’t get cleared in a timely manner, I’ll be raiding all of your cabins.

Milo: You’ll be wildly disappointed when you get to mine.

Slater: I’ve got a big supply of cereal and Pop-Tarts. You’re more than welcome to them.

Slater: And I’m pretty sure I have a few frozen pizzas in the freezer. Seriously, if you need them, they’re yours.

Axel: Thanks! Let’s hope I don’t need to do that.

Connor: I’ve got a couple of steaks and a few chicken breasts in my freezer too. Don’t hesitate, Axel. I feel bad that you’re stuck there.

Connor: And I feel even worse for Maisie. Although now she’s got some great access to the lodge and the cabins to help her with her plans.

Axel: That’s the plan for tomorrow. We already knew the roads weren’t going to be cleared today.

Axel: Thanks for the updates and the offer of food. I’m getting ready to grill some burgers now. If I hear anything about the roads, I’ll let you know.

Connor: Same. Be safe, buddy.

Axel: Thanks!

Sliding the phone back into his pocket, he went to his shed and wheeled the grill back to his cabin. He positioned it next to the porch before going inside. Maisie had some music playing softly, and she had her back to him as she danced and shimmied around his tiny kitchen.

It wasn’t a hardship having her there, and he wouldn’t mind if it took several more days for the roads to be cleared.

The sun was barely up, but Maisie couldn’t sleep. Beside her, Axel was sound asleep on his stomach, looking sexier than she ever thought possible.

The man was too good to be true in every sense of the word. He deserved to have only good things happen to him.

He certainly didn’t deserve someone lying to him the way that she was.
