“She’ll catch us,” I whispered, horrified. Still, I kissed him back.
“Socome.”
Tears pricked my eyes as panic rose in my chest. I didn’t want to stop, but I didn’t want to be caught either.
I had to hurry this crazy man up.
Sneaking my free hand between my legs, I found my swollen clit. I’d already been close, so it didn’t take more than a few circles of the sensitive nub before I was coming harder than I ever had.
A cry tore out of my throat, but it was cut short when Ocean slapped a hand over my mouth and sank his teeth into my shoulder, flooding the condom with a harsh grunt.
It was eerily quiet after that.
No sound came from the bathroom.
The euphoria faded, and reality quickly came crashing down. How could I do this to her?
“What did I dooo?” I wailed.
Ocean said nothing as he slid out of me. The sound was a crude wet slurp that reminded me how much I’d loved what we’d done. I heard him remove the condom with a snap, and then he pulled up his pants and boxers.
“Look at me, Vengeance.” I felt a tear roll down my face as I straightened and reluctantly faced him. “Stop this.” He gentlythumbed it away. “What we did was done with Coby’s blessing.” Shock rippled through me as my head whipped toward the bathroom door, but he gripped my jaw firmly, keeping my wide eyes on him. “But you will not tell her it happened.”
My brows immediately drew down. “If Coby’s okay with it, why can’t I tell her?”
“Because she wants the three of us together as much as I do, and I promised her I would deliver. I will not get her hopes up in vain if you still plan on walking away, and you will not make me a liar.”
“But it’s okay if you make me one?” I ripped my face away from his hand and pushed him away. I could hear Coby moving around in the bathroom, so I quickly redressed.
“Do you really want to tell Coby you screwed her fiancé for the hell of it? Everything I do is to protect you both. I don’t want you hurting Coby for your sake as much as hers.”
“For the last time, I’mnotyour concern.Cobyis.”
Ire swam in sinful brown eyes. “As long as you are in my home, you belong to me, and I protect what’s mine. That includes you, whether you like it or not.”
The bathroom door opened.
I quickly put space between us when Coby stepped out, cloaked in a cloud of steam. I held my breath, certain she’d heard us. I didn’t need to see Ocean’s face to know he was, too. It didn’t matter that we had her blessing—not telling her felt like deception.
But what if Ocean was right? What if the truth hurt Coby more?
Finally, the steam parted, revealing her pretty face.
My stomach sank.
This is so fucking awkward, I thought an hour later as I lay in bed staring at the vaulted ceiling and the exposed wooden beams while Coby talked my ear off.
For some reason, I’d chosen to follow my heart.
The only problem was that my head wouldn’t stop screaming that this could never work. It was all I could do not to bolt out the door that I kept eyeing. I was already showered and dressed for bed in one of Ocean’s T-shirts. I could already feel exhaustion creeping in, but I wouldn’t allow myself to sleep. Not yet.
Ocean was currently in the shower while Coby and I waited for him.
In his bed.
“Hunter.” Snapping out of my stupor, I looked over at Coby, who had slid over to lie next to me with her elbow propped up on the pillow and her head in her hand. “Are you okay?”
“Yes.”
