“Okay,” he says decisively. “Pack your things.”
Grinning widely, I lean forward and press my lips to his, excitement and happiness flowing through me. We’re not going to screw this up again.
We couldn’t possibly.
Could we?
Chapter Twenty-Six
LUNAR
Danger joined us for dinner and interacted really well with Stuart. I have to admit, I was worried Danger might be a little distant with him. Some people struggle to interact with those who are autistic, but they got along so well, plus, Stuart was drawn to Danger’s ink. So much so that Danger took off his shirt so Stuart could trace his tattoos.
Mom was impressed by how well he interacted with Stuart, and she insisted he come back and spend more time with him. His genuine agreement warmed my heart.
After a tearful farewell, Danger and I went to the airport with minimal hassle from the paparazzi. It seemed he was able to slip into Adelaide unnoticed.
Once we landed in Sydney, we headed straight back to the hotel. Luke wanted to meet with us immediately, so he told Danger he’d be in his room when we arrived.
Danger pulls my luggage behind him as we walk through the dimly lit hall to the same room where everything fell apart. I feel strange coming back here, but I know nothing happened between him and Effa, so I can’t be too annoyed.
Swiping the key, we head inside. The lights are on, and I hear Luke’s voice when we walk in. As we step in further, I notice Ryan sitting on the bed. He opens his eyes wide, and I rush over, embracing him tightly, and he hugs me with the warmth of an older brother.
“So good to have you back, Lunar. It was really fucking shit here without you,” he says honestly, and I smile at him.
“Was shit not being here,” I reply, moving to stand beside Danger again.
Luke clears his throat as if my welcome party is inconveniencing him.
He’s a pain in the ass.
I turn and take a deep breath. Luke half smiles, and it shocks me. He’s always so stern, so seeing a smile coming from him is odd but also empowering.
“We’re happy for your safe return, Lunar. We will do everything in our power to ensure you stay this time. Things fell to shit with you not around, so I’m hoping you can pull Danger out of his funk because right now, the tour is going to fail if it keeps on this path.”
Snapping my head to Danger, I frown. “What’s going on?”
Danger exhales, running his fingers through his hair. “I couldn’t perform with you gone. I couldn’t function, and every song fell flat. The lyrics didn’t mean anything. Ineedyou, Lunar.”
My shoulders slump, though my heart beats a little faster hearing he was just as torn up as I was. “Well, there’s no excuse now. You’ll have to pick up your performance, Danger. I’ll be here by your side from now on. The band needs you. Your fans need you!”
He wraps his arms around me, resting his forehead against mine, a slow smile crossing his face. “Just hearing that brings a sense of normalcy. Knowing you’re here, supporting me, is exactly what I need.”
Luke claps his hands together abruptly, forcing Danger and me to break apart. “Right! So now we know the team is back together, and Danger is going to pick up his act, I’ll produce a press release and issue it tomorrow. Australia will know Lunar is back, and if there’s any backlash, we’ll deal with it rather than running away from it. It didn’t work well foranyonelast time,” Luke clarifies.
“Great. No offense, but can you guys get the fuck out of our room now?” Danger urges.
I chuckle, Ryan laughs, and Luke rolls his eyes, but he nods in understanding.
“Lunar and Danger sitting in a tree f.u.c.k.i.n.g,” Ryan sings out while making a circle with one hand and pointing his finger through it with the other. I slap his arm before he turns and walks toward the door.
“Have a good night, you two. And, Lunar…” Ryan pauses. “Itreallyis good to have you back.”
I smile while he and Luke head for the door. Danger’s fingers run against my hips, and his front presses to my back as we watch them leave. Before they walk through the opening, Ryan turns, winking at us, then walks through the exit.
My heart rate spikes, knowing that as soon as the door closes, Danger is going to go full alpha, and I cannot wait.
His fingers trailing, almost roughly, along my hips, cause the energy in the room to electrify and spark. My breathing hitches, and I bite my bottom lip as the door clicks closed. My clit instantly throbs with need, but before I can even turn to face him, Danger grips my hips, spins me, and thrusts my body back against the door forcefully. I let out an “oomph,” a smile crossing my face as his knee slides between my legs, opening mine wider, his body grinding against mine forcefully.
