“Okay, I’m heading out, so you two can do whatever it is you two do. Have a good night, and I’ll see you tomorrow. Oh, and thanks for this opportunity, Danger. I really appreciate it.”
I pat her shoulder and guide her to the door. “This will be great for both of us. Night, Effa.”
“Goodnight, Danger. Bye, Lunar,” she calls out before she exits.
“See ya,” Lunar responds.
I close the door and turn, walking back toward Lunar with a bright smile.
“I hope we can come up with something decent. My songs lately have all been a little on the depressing side,” I admit.
Lunar walks up to me and wraps her arms around my neck like we were before Effa arrived. I slide my arms around her waist, running my thumbs against her soft skin under her shirt.
“Think of all the good things in your life rather than the bad. Things are looking up, Danger. Concentrate on that aspect.”
I pull her into a tight hug and nuzzle my nose into her neck, inhaling her fruity smell that sends my cock into a frenzy. “What would I do without you?” I murmur.
She embraces me, holding me tightly. “Probably waste away on whiskey and hot women.”
Laughing, I pull back from her slightly and gaze into her blue eyes. “True story. So you’ll be here tomorrow to be my muse when we’re writing, right?” I ask hopefully. But then she tenses in my arms and chews on her bottom lip. “Or, maybe you won’t?”
“It’s just… I-I have a meeting with the organizers of the fundraiser tomorrow. They’re discussing galas and whatnot, where we can have special guest speakers. Maybe even have you guys perform if you are available. They’re saying they’ll invite the who’s who of Aussie celebrities,” she explains hesitantly.
“Well, that’s great, Lunar. I’m so fucking proud of you,” I say honestly.
“But if you need me to stay here and help you, I can talk to them via email?” she offers.
Shaking my head adamantly, I hold her tighter. “No way. This is your job. You left the Savages MC to stand on your own two feet. You be the strong woman you’re meant to be.”
She grins, pulling me toward the bed. “A strong woman, hey?”
Grinning, I nod. “So fucking strong.”
Lunar leans in to grab the hem of my shirt and lifts it over my head, throwing it to the floor, then spins and pushes me back onto the bed. I chuckle while she slides her dress over her body and moves to the edge of the bed, kneeling over me.
My cock hardens instantly when her nails dig into my chest, causing me to hiss between my teeth.
“Then let me show you howstrongI can be.” Her voice is husky, full of desire, before she leans down, pressing her lips to mine forcefully.
Oh, fuck. yes!
Chapter Nineteen
DANGER
Effa and I are in my room, attempting to nail down some lyrics for our collaboration. However, everything feels gloomy, coming out darker than we want, and my frustration grows. After I jot down another futile set of lyrics, I toss the pencil aside, grab the paper, and crumple it into a tight ball. With a groan, I hurl it across the room with all my might.
“This isn’t working,” I exclaim in frustration, and Effa sighs in agreement.
She rises to her feet, her petite stature contradicting her strength as she grips my arms. With surprising force, she pulls me up and turns to face me, forcing me to meet her gaze.
“Writing isn’t easy. It has to come from the heart, and right now, your heart is so jam-packed with anger and hurt that you need to let that go before you can move on,” Effa explains.
“Are you talking about the song or in life?”
“Both! Harboring resentment and anger can only bring more pain. It doesn’t affect the person you’re resentful toward. It only gives them power over you. And they win a game they didn’t even know they were playing.”
Furrowing my brows at Effa, I shake my head. “I can’t control how I feel… the betrayal, the hurt, the constant feeling of inadequacy,” I confess, and my eyes widen in surprise at revealing such personal feelings to someone I barely know.
