Things are starting to turn for us.

And with the help of Luke, an agent on our side, anything is possible.

***

Luke is smiling as I bound off the stage on a high.

Performing is the best kind of drug in the world—ice, meth, or weed could never compare to the kind of lift rocking out can provide. I smile at Lunar and give her a wink as she watches me walk past her while she’s busy selling our stuff to a bunch of girls. Knowing Lunar’s doing an awesome job, I grin and stroll over toward Techie and Luke.

Luke looks me up and down, shaking his head, and my heart leaps into my throat for a moment, thinking he’s saying no to our sound. That is until a giant smile crosses his face.

He reaches out, grabs my arm, pulls me to his side, and wraps his arm around my sweaty shoulders. “Danger, your sound isexactlywhat I’m looking for. I’m in. I’mallin. I’ll start by getting your songs on the radio. We will need a quick trip to the recording studio. I know you have some tracks already laid down from before, so it should be easy. In the meantime, we’ll do large clubs to get you known around the scene. Then I will arrange an Australian tour. I want Recoil to be Australia’s latest buzzword. The next hot sound.”

Grinning like the fucking Cheshire cat, I shake my head. “Shit! I don’t know what to say.”

“Well, a fucking thank you might be a start,” he teases with a dirty great big smile.

“Fuck! Sorry. Yeah. Thanks, Luke. You don’t know what this means to the band… to me.”

“No, I do know what it means. You guys deserve it, and I will help make it happen, Danger. With a lot of work from you guys and dedication from me, wewilldo this.”

“Yeah, wewill.”

“Good, now go pack up.”

His directness makes me smirk. He’s obviously going to be ordering us around a lot, so I figure I may as well start obeying him now.

“Sure, thanks again.” I walk back via the stage to see Lunar at the merch desk.

She’s selling the last item we have available and nods once at me. “I think I’m good at this…” she waves her hands around, “… selling stuff.”

My eyes light up, and a smile tugs at the corners of my lips. “Yeah, I think you are. Come here,” I order, and Lunar steps out from behind the desk. As soon as she’s close enough, I reach out, pulling her to me, and press my lips to hers.

“Danger, mind if I snap a quick photo?” someone calls out.

I reluctantly break away from Lunar, wincing. “Sorry, babe, duty calls.”

She nods and lets me go with the brightest smile on her face. Walking over to my new fans, I join the huddle for a selfie.

This is the best feeling in the fucking world.

Recoil is back, baby!

Chapter Eleven

LUNAR

Danger walks off, and I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get to have more time with him before the fans took him away. But this is all part of it. Chewing on my bottom lip, I stand back, observing him, and wrap my arms around myself almost instinctively when Techie and Ryan walk over to me.

“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you, Lunar,” Techie quips.

I roll my eyes. “I’m not jealous.”

Ryan shakes his head. “Lunar… sweet, sweet, Lunar. You’ll learn that rock stars are irresistible to women, and our rugged good looks and chiseled features make us pretty much like gods.”

I raise my eyebrows, and with one quick movement, I rub Ryan’s stomach. “Yeah, that’s why the women are flocking to you right now, hey, tubby guts?”

Techie laughs obnoxiously loud as Ryan scoffs and sucks in his slightly chubby belly. “Hey, chicks dig me too. But the moral of the story is that if you’re going to be around Danger, you have to learn that women will flock to him. He’s the lead singer, making him royalty… practically a living legend. If you’re jealous now, you have to tame that beast. Because if we get bigger, this… those four girls… they will turn into a crowd, and these babes are tame to what we’ve seen previously.” Ryan grins, then turns to walk off, and I glance at Techie.
