“Isabelle! Where are you going? What's happening? Don’t answer the door! You’ve no idea who it is!” I shout, jumping out of bed and pulling on my sweatpants. I jog down the stairs after her to be greeted by a very smart and formal-looking Vic standing in the hallway. She looks formidable in a sharp black trouser suit with a pale blue satin blouse, hair perfectly straight and simple makeup. The transformation from her usual boho vintage style I’ve seen her in previously is startling.
“What the fuck?” I grumble, running my hand through my hair, wishing I could be back in bed.
“Your ass is mine today, James,” Vic says sternly but with a crooked smile across her face. “You will do as I tell you, and you’ll thank me for it!” She laughs as she walks past me into the kitchen, flicking the kettle on. “Now go get dressed. Be a good boy and look smart.” She waves me off with a dismissive waft of her hand.
I sigh, looking at Isabelle as she stands there with her arms crossed, quietly laughing to herself, looking like the cat that got the cream, her hair mussed from sleep and her dressing gown partly open. She looks every inch the wanton beauty she is.
“Would you like to update me as to what the hell is happening, Isabelle?” I sigh, following her up the stairs, sliding my hands up her dressing gown and gripping those soft ass cheeks that I was hoping to get hold of this morning before getting up for work.

“Vic is coming as your support, James. Let her keep you calm. I’ve warned her you're not the whips and chains kind of sub, but you do need someone to keep control and stop you from making any rash decisions or comments. Vic is also a solicitor, so she’s used to having very formal interviews, and she’ll step in if they go too far. So, do as she says, James. Your ass is hers today, and I trust her. Please let her be there for you, and please do as she asks.”
I flop down, sitting on the edge of the bed, sighing in resignation, knowing I’ve promised to do whatever Isabelle says, and if this is what she wants for me, I’ll do it to make her happy. Knowing I have a friendly face who understands our situation is actually quite a good idea and makes me feel a little calmer already.
Isabelle kneels behind me, rubbing the tops of my arms with her hands, peppering soft kisses down my neck and over my shoulders, her hair draping over my shoulders and into my face. I can smell her apple shampoo, and I want nothing more than to climb under the covers with her again, feeling her warm, soft skin against mine, but I know that we need to face this day together.
Vic and I drive to the school in her 7-series BMW, a far cry from what I expected her to drive. For someone so petite, she fills the spacious leather interior with her presence. I would hate to come against her in a courtroom.
Yes, Miss
“James, I’m aware of the citation and that I am not legally your counsel, but if they take it too far or ask questions that are not relevant, I will step in. Do you understand?” She side-eyes me as we approach a set of lights that turn red.
I sigh and nod.
“Words, James!” she demands, and her tone makes me jump. Holy shit.
“Yes… Yes, I understand. Fuck, Vic!” I stammer.
“Sorry, I’m stuck a little between two worlds here. You’re not my sub, and I need to remember that. My apologies. But I’m also not entirely in work mode. I struggle with friendships, so this here...” She waves her hand between us. “This is weird for me. I’ll do better.”
I laugh at how uptight she suddenly seems. “Vic, it’s ok. I appreciate you being here for me. I know you’re doing it for Isabelle, but thank you nonetheless.” I relax into my seat again, looking at the people walking past us at the lights.
As we set off again, Vic is silent for a moment longer until her phone rings through the car.
“Stapleton. What?” she barks.
A timid female voice answers back. “Ms. Stapleton, the directors have asked me to let you know you have an email that needs responding to today. I’m sorry to disturb you.

I’ve rescheduled your two o’clock meeting, but I couldn’t change the hearing at four pm.”
“Thank you, Lyn, that’ll be all.” She abruptly ends the call.
I sit in shock as I realise she has rearranged her whole day for us.
“Vic, did you have a full schedule today? Did you move stuff to be here?”
“Of course, and yes I did,” she answers, distracted by turning traffic ahead of us.
“Thank you so much, Vic.” I say softly. I look at her and take her in as she pulls into the school car park. She has rearranged her entire business day to come down here at a moment’s notice to help us. She looks like a fiery, scary pixie, but her heart is huge, and I decide I really like her and want her on my team. Our team.
“Welcome. Don’t mess it up. Do as I say. I’ll play
nice, but follow my lead. Yes?”
“Yes, Ms. Stapleton.” I laugh out loud.
