When her meal tray was taken from her, she noticed that it wasn’t the same officer. She didn’t want to get into things with someone else, so she just handed over her tray and said nothing.Tomorrow, she was going to have to figure out how to get to the courthouse before Sen spent all her money. It hadn’t been fair of her brother to leave his money to Sen, and she was willing to kill her for it.Brother and sister had a tighter bond than uncle to niece, and she was going to make sure that Sen knew that.

“I’ll kill her, and no one will care.”She thought about how she was going to do that since they’d taken her gun from her.She didn’t have any money coming in to buy another one either, since Howard had put those rules in place, and now she was without a house and money. She missed her car, too.Being able to drive herself around to get things when she wanted them had been a pleasure that she’d not realized that she liked.“Now that’s all gone because of my dumbass daughter.Sen should have learned not to mess with me when I’m right. That money is all mine.”

She tried to think what she’d done with the first bit of money she’d gotten from Robert’s estate.Nothing came to mind. She certainly hadn’t paid any bills with it.It was like free money, and she was going to spend it as she saw fit.And she did.Right up until all ten grand of it was gone, and she had less than fifty bucks in her pocket. That last bit of money had gone for her gun.Now the police had thatas well.

At dinner time, she was brought another tray of food.Tonight was pasta and marinara sauce. She asked if there was anything extra and was told to eat what she got.Debra liked to make herself pasta sandwiches with the garlicy bread with the noodles and sauce dripping down the sides. It was her favorite way to eat pasta.Tonight, with only one slice of the bread, she was going to have to make do.She missed the other officer; she always made sure there were extras for her.

Disappointed in her meal, she didn’t care for the cake that she was given either; she was still hungry when she was told to hand over her empty tray.Begging for something more to eat with the promise of money when she got out got her nowhere but an empty belly and nothing to show for it.Debra hated that she was reduced to paying anyone extra for anything, and it pissed her off when no one took her seriously. She wanted her money, by god.

When the lights were turned out, a stupid thing to do, she thought, she was left alone with her thoughts.Plotting the way that she always was, she wondered how she could get Sen by herself so that she could get her money. She wasn’t above killing her for the money, but perhaps she would just hand it over without any trouble.Probably not.She certainly wouldn’t.

Then she’d have to kill that husband of hers.If she were really married. That way he couldn’t get what should have been hers in the first place.Debra knew that she might have to spend a couple more days in jail until they figured out that the money did indeed belong to her and that Sen had caused her to kill her. That man, she didn’t know his name, who was supposed to be her husband, would have to die too, and that too would be Robert’s fault for not giving it to her in the first place.

It did occur to her that there might not be any money to be had.Robert always acted like he didn’t have a penny to his name. But there were times when she was sure that he had more than he was saying, like the time she’d been invited to his birthday party one year when Sen had been little. The bash was huge, and there had been plenty of food to go around.Even the gifts that had been displayed on the big table had been expensive. He had more than he let on simply because he didn’t want her to have it.

“Bastard.”She was told to be quiet.Lights out meant that it was quiet time, too.Like she cared. She did her best plotting while it was in the dark of the night, and she would have them so worked out that they would go flawlessly when she was ready to do them.Getting the money from Sen was going to be no different. As soon as she saw her daughter again, she was going to make sure that she understood that when it happened to her, her being killed because of the money, it was because of Robert. Then let her think that her saintly uncle was all that nice when he was going to cause her and her husband’s death.

She knew that she was going to need a weapon.Debra had been told she wasn’t going to be reimbursed for the weapon that they took from her.Something about a parole violation.Just how long was she supposed to follow those rules was something that she’d ask, and since she didn’t care for the answer of all the time, Debra had ignored it.That’s the way she’d done all the rules when she didn’t like them, and it had served her well up until now.No one was giving her gun back to her.

Thinking about giving money to one of the officers for their gun had some merit, but she didn’t see them just handing it over without cash up front. They were very careful about their weapons, too, never having them on them when they came back to bring her anything that she’d had coming to her.Like they didn’t trust her or something.

“When I get out of here, I’m going to have to kill more people than I first thought when things don’t go my way.”There were two of the officers that she wanted dead simply because they looked down on her when they were bringing her a tray. Then there was the daughter and husband who would have to die.“I’m going to need some more ammo, too, if my list gets any longer.”

Being told to shut up again, she simply rolled to her side.It was better than engaging in a heated conversation with the man up the row from her.He might well be on her list, too, before this was all done.Shooting her way out of jail did have some appeal.Especially since Robert was going to be taking the blame for all of it.
