Yanking my hat off my head, I held that up so she could see me over the handful of other people arriving early. For a moment, Cody's rep looked around in confusion, then a smile took over her face.

"J.D.!" She waved in the girliest way I could imagine, then headed over.

Damn, even Cody wasn't that girly. For a moment, I felt bad for this lady. She'd been dropped into this world without aparachute, and yet she seemed to be doing a damned good job of swimming instead of sinking.

"We should get her a seat," Tanner said before she was too close. "Gonna bet she'd appreciate having some input on what she's watching."

"Now that?" I asked. "Good boy, Tanner."

He smacked my arm. "Not my kink, J.D."

"Might be mine."

"What might be?" Rhaven asked as she joined us.

"You donotwant to know," Tanner assured her. "But do you have a seat yet?"

"No, I was just gonna wander up top and - "

"Wanna?" I asked, wrapping an arm around her back and guiding her to the ticket window. "Sit with us, beautiful. Promise we don't bite."

She lifted a dark brow at me. "I like how you assume that's a good thing."

Behind me, Tanner snorted out a laugh. "She's got your number, J.D."

"Shit," I drawled. "I think Cody's been telling her stories about us."

"Only a few," Rhaven assured me as I reached the window.

"Should have two tickets waiting," I told the woman on the other side. "J.D. - "

"Adkins, yes," she replied.

"I'm gonna need one more for my friend here. Can you put the three of us together, down by the front rail, and as close to the chutes as possible?"

"I have three right by the side gate," the woman said. "Want me to charge that to your account, Mr. Adkins?"

"Yep," I said.

She nodded, tapped a few buttons, then passed me a slip of paper. "And you're good." She pointed to show us which way to go.

"I can buy my own ticket, you know," Rhaven said.

Tanner just fell in on her other side. "But this is more fun," he said. "See, now we can point out all the different styles of chaps for you."

"And riders?" Rhaven asked. "I'm supposed to be looking for potential riders to sponsor."

"Oh, I think we can do that." I gestured, showing her which way we were going. "Trust me, Rhaven. By the time you leave tonight, you'll know all about bull riding."

"Sounds like I shouldn't expect to see much," she countered.

But Tanner replied, "Doesn't mean you won't learn. This man? He's the best rider in the PBR."

"Was," I corrected.

"Who is now?" Rhaven asked.

I just flashed her a smile. "My rookie, of course. Cody's gonna go all the fucking way. I'm gonna teach that girl all I know, and then she's gonna break all my records and support her boyfriend in the manner he should be accustomed to."
