“You were right,” he says. “I am never, ever going to let you go. And you are never, ever going to get away. So you can run if you want, but every time you do, you can guarantee you are going to end up with a very sore ass full of cum, you understand?”

“Yeah,” I mumble.

He grips my chin and turns my head toward him. “Eyes on me, little one,” he drawls. “Answer me properly.”

“Yes, sir,” I say softly.

“Good girl.”

EPILOGUE

Laura

Our wedding is scheduled to take place on a crisp autumn morning. Sam and I are going to sayI dounderneath an arch of white roses overlooking the ocean. It’s a fantasy fairytale storybook sort of affair, and I have a sense of being swept up in something far greater than myself.

The function is kept relatively small and private, at an oceanside club where our family feels particularly feral to my mind. John’s guests are a varied group of people, I notice. They’re not all truck drivers, I can tell that much. There are a lot of suspicious lumps in the various suits. Everyone here is packing. In spite of that, the energy and mood is very much one of a family affair.

During the practice dinner, Bracken is running amok and picks up the carving knife from the caterer’s table. At this point, my mother barely notices what the little creature does.

Sam reaches back as Bracken rushes by like a small killer and takes the knife away, prompting a small scream of rage.Undeterred by being disarmed, Bracken grabs a fork from the table and tries to lodge it in his leg.

He laughs.

“I hope our baby is like this,” he says. “Smart, and…”

He wants to say evil, but he wants to find a cuter, more age-appropriate word. Bracken’s not really evil, of course. Bracken is just a kid. And our baby will just be a baby too. But what if they take after him? What if they have that same ruthlessness and native cold?

I have to hope that there is goodness in me that will protect our babies, and that whatever is inside Sam is so unique to him it cannot possibly be recreated in anyone else.

John comes by and sweeps Bracken up and away. She giggles at the top of her lungs as he plays airplane with her. Everyone loves Sam. Including me. But I am the only one who knows what he really is. Who he really is. I am the only one who knows his secrets, maybe not the details, but the depth of them. I am the one who feels his darkness. I am the vessel of it. There is an intimacy between us that will remain between us forever.

My wedding morning comes. I am dressing in a room filled with glowing sunlight. I look as pretty as I have ever looked. Maybe as pretty as I will ever look. My dress has been tailored to allow for the bump, because I am six months pregnant and very much showing.

Bracken and Eternity are flower children, and they manage to strew petals literally everywhere, including in many of theguests’ drinks. I can see them out the window, causing absolute havoc. There won’t be any petals left for the walk down the aisle at this rate.

“I can’t wait to get married,” Serenity says. She and Eva are my bridesmaids. I decided to keep the bridal party in the family. It feels a little cozier that way.

“You’re glowing,” my mom tells me. “You’re so beautiful, and Sam is such a lovely man. You’re going to be well looked after.”

Mom is a big Sam fan. John is a big Sam fan. Everybody loves Sam. Including me. I love him in a way I never imagined I would be able to love anyone. It frightens me sometimes, the depth of attachment I know he engineered in me. But what difference is there between the kind of love that seems to be accidental, and the kind of love a man of singular intention decides he will create?

“You’ve done us all proud, baby,” my mom says, gathering my sisters. “You take a moment for yourself, and when you’re ready, John will walk you down the aisle.”

She leaves the room, and I take a deep breath. This is it. It’s all really happening. In a matter of minutes, I will be Mrs. Samuel Rollins. In a matter of months, I will be mother to his child.

I hear the door open behind me, then shut, and lock.

I turn around to see Sam standing there in an amazing suit. It’s just a black tux, but I swear he has never been more handsome than he is today preparing to claim me in the eyes of the world, and god. I stare at him as he stares at me.

I glance at myself in the mirror, hoping that I look as good to him as he does to me. My dress is very pretty, strapless, full skirt, very fairytale, very…

“You’re not supposed to see me before the wedding…”

I don’t even get to finish that sentence before he is on me. He slides his fly down as he strides across the room.

“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he growls. “But I don’t want you walking down the aisle with an empty pussy. I want you to have a cunt full of my cum. I’m not going to say our vows while you haven’t been fucked properly.”

He’s like an animal as he bends me over a chair, slides my white bridal thong to the side, and slides his cock inside me. It’s as simple as that, just as it always has been. The very first time we had sex, he took complete control of me, and now he does it again.
