Hawkeye nodded.

“Shit, “Taylynn let her head hang.“I was looking forward to a little bit of a break.Guess the break will have to wait.”She heaved a put upon sigh and hooked an arm around one of Delilah’s.“Come on, we’ve got a lot to do.Andy’s grabbing her computer, I’ll get mine, then we can look at two things at once.”She towed Delilah along with her back into the clubhouse.

As they passed through the main room, Delilah noticed all the sleeping people were gone and the trash had been picked up but the room wasn’t clean, at least not yet.Dax had a spray bottle and a rag and was wiping down surfaces,

Taylynn paused, looked at him long enough to get his attention, then spoke.“Tattletale.”

“Yep,” he said with a grin.“You knew I’d do it when you walked out, too.It annoys you sometimes, but you love that we take your safety seriously.”He turned to look at Delilah.“That’s not just for her—we take the safety of all of our women seriously.”

Delilah blinked, not sure what to say or if she should even talk to him.Warren had hated for her to talk to other men.Ever, but especially when he wasn’t around. What would Hawkeye expect?

“Thank you,” she said, looking away.He seemed to sense she wasn’t comfortable as he turned and went back to cleaning.

Taylynn started walking again, towing Delilah along in her wake. They went back to the room where Hawkeye had taken her after they’d come back from their shopping this morning.

“Here, have a seat.I’ll pop over to our room and grab my computer.”

Delilah nodded and sat where she had been earlier. She wasn’t sure what else to do.She wasn’t even sure she could find her way back to the room she’d shared with Hawkeye the night before.Even if she could, he had locked it and she didn’t have a key.She didn’t know what the others planned to do on their computers, as she’d never used one before, but she was willing to watch and maybe she could figure it out.Life here would be dramatically different than in Jericho. It would be an adjustment ...she just hoped she didn’t make Hawkeye too angry while she learned.

Chapter Thirty-One

Hawkeye watched asTaylynn tugged Delilah into the clubhouse to go look at houses and colors and shook his head.He was glad the women were accepting and welcoming her, but he wondered how long she would be able to take it before she got overwhelmed. He’d give it an hour, and knowing how he got, especially once he got on his computer and started on a project, he pulled out his phone and set an alarm to remind him to go check on her.

“Well, it looks like the girls have things well in hand. This might be the only time someone asks, but what do you want in the way of a house?”Raven came up beside him and clapped one hand on his shoulder.

Hawkeye stared at Raven for a moment, thinking.“Other than Delilah being happy, there’s only one thing I want.”

“A garage for the bike and somewhere to work on it?”

Hawkeye shook his head.“I want the biggest plan we’ve got.She wants kids.If she can’t have any of her own, I’m sure we’ll end up adopting.”

Raven nodded.“We’ll get things moving. You need to figure out how involved we need to be in taking down Jericho. The sooner the better.I don’t think anyone will come after her now, but after we take down that fucking cult, they might.Especially if anyone finds out who we are and how they came to our attention.”

Hawkeye nodded. He knew they had to get it done and the sooner the better. He hated the idea of all those women and children suffering even one more day.Inside, he walked past Raven’s office, spotting Delilah there with Andy, who had a laptop open on the desktop between them and spoke animatedly, and kept going. He wanted to reach out to a couple of his friends and get things rolling on taking down Jericho and all the men involved.

He continued to the bedroom where he moved all the bags with their purchases this morning into the room from where Dax had left them in the hallway and dropped them on the bed for now. With that done, he pulled out his spare key and put it on a ring for Delilah, then sat down and logged into his computer and got busy.
