“Dax!”she called.A few seconds later, the man Hawkeye had sprayed with water appeared in the doorway.

“You rang?”he said in an artificially deep voice.

“I did.”She held out the folded papers.“Can you give this to Raven and the guys?”

“Sure.”Dax stepped forward and took the paper.“They left the three of you alone?”he asked with a frown.

Taylynn shook her head.“They’re in the next room. You know the rules about women in church.”

Dax gave her a look as if he didn’t believe what she was saying.Delilah frowned. What was the rule about women in church?

“Just deliver that.”Taylynn waved one hand at him.“I’m trying to behave here, at least when other people are looking.I’m the president’s old lady.I’m supposed to set a good example.”

“Geeze. If you’re the gold standard, then we’re all in trouble.”

Taylynn picked up a clip of some kind off the desk and threw it at the man.“Go.We don’t need input from the peanut gallery.”Dax left laughing.

Delilah turned to Taylynn.“Are women not allowed to go to church here?”

Andy laughed.Taylynn shook her head.

“It’s not that kind of church. If you wanted to attend services somewhere I’m sure it could be arranged. This church,” she waved toward the wall, “is the room where the men meet and talk about club business.Unless there are special circumstances, women aren’t allowed in.”

Delilah nodded. There had been an entire building like that in Jericho.Women weren’t allowed in.She had no idea what happened in there. She’d asked her father once, he’d backhanded her and told her to mind her own business.Later, she’d asked Warren, he hadn’t hit her, but he’d said it was men’s business and not to worry about it.She’d already learned that when he said not to worry about something it meant don’t bring it up again or there would be punishment. She’d never asked again.Maybe she would ask Hawkeye about his version of church later.Maybe.

“Enough about that.Let’s find something more fun to do.”

“Like what?”Andy asked with a frown.

“I don’t know.I’m sure we can come up with something.Have you been out to see where they’re going to put the houses? The construction crew is supposed to be here tomorrow.”

Andy shook her head.“I know we’re supposed to get one but I haven’t been back there, not yet.”

“Then let’s go.We can snag one of the trucks and drive back.”Taylynn stood and headed for the door.

“Sure!”Andy stood and followed.

Delilah was the only one to hesitate. She hadn’t done anything here without Hawkeye and she wasn’t sure how he would feel if she left the building without him.

“Coming?”Taylynn asked, pausing at the door.

“Sure.”Delilah stood and followed. If Hawkeye didn’t think she was safe with Taylynn, he wouldn’t have left her with the other woman. She wasn’t as sure about Andy, but he knew she was there or at least she assumed he did since Dagger had gone to join them.

She followed Andy, but she watched as Taylynn detoured to behind the bar and grabbed a set of keys, much like Hawkeye had earlier, then the three of them went out and piled into the same truck they’d used this morning.
