“It’s not bad, bad,” she countered. “Are your roomies home?”
“No, not for another two weeks.”
“Perfect. Which bathroom should I use?”
“Mine,” I said. “Throw your stuff in my room as well, but you cansleep in Mel’s.”
I heard the shower start just as my doorbell rang again and I checked the peephole to see Snarl standing in the hallway. Pulling open the door, I grinned. “Come in, but give me just a second.”
I closed the door, then headed down the hall, peeking into my bathroom. “Snarl’s here, Kady, don’t come out naked.”
“No promises,” she replied in a sing-song voice.
I chuckled, then after closing both my bathroom and bedroom doors, I headed back out to the living room, straight into my man’s arms. “Hi.”
“Hey, baby.” He gave me a squeeze.
“This is a nice surprise.” I met his eyes. “My sister just got here, so it’s a twofer for me.”
“From London?”
“Yes. She flew in early.”
“Then I won’t keep you. Just got back from the club, so thought I’d stop in and see if you had time to look at a house with me.”
“A house?”
He nodded. “Got a lead on a foreclosure in a great neighborhood. Probably gonna need some work, but thought it might be fun.”
“And you wantmeto go with you?”
He grinned. “Yeah, why not? Any excuse to spend time with you. Shit, I’d invite you to go grocery shoppin’ if it meant more time with you.”
I bit my lip, letting his words and the warm fuzzies they elicited, fill me. “Well, that’s ridiculously sweet.”
“That’s me, sweet ol’ Snarl.” He leaned down and kissed me gently.
“Holy, shit, sissy, you didn’t tell me he was the blond version of Jason Momoa,” Kadance hissed, and I dropped my head to his chest.
“Perfect timing, per usj, Kady.”
I turned to face my sister as Snarl slid an arm around my waist, keeping me against his chest.
Kadance reached her hand out to him with a giant grin. “Hi, big man, I’m Kadance. The big sister.”
“Hey there. I’m Snarl, the, ah, man, I guess. It’s nice to meet ya.”
They shook hands and my sister let out a long, exaggerated yawn. “Do you mind if we postpone our reunion? The jetlag is setting in and I just want to crash.”
I frowned. “Are you sure?”
“Yes. Seriously, I know I should stay up, but I’ll do that tomorrow.”
I glanced up at Snarl. “I guess I’m free.”
“Perfect.” He gave me a squeeze. “I’ve got my truck today.”
I hugged my sister before grabbing my purse and keys and following Snarl down to his truck.
